Transfer route is more profitable?

Post by AlphaCentauriBear »

I did a simple test. Road service from coal mine to power plant.
Put an additional loading bay in the middle of the road and sent three trucks to carry coal. There is plenty of coal at the mine so vehicles load immediately.
Let's call these stations A-B-C.

Truck 1 loads at A and transfers at B.
Truck 2 loads at B and delivers to C.
Truck 3 loads at A and delivers to C non-stop.

I would assume revenue of truck 3 is about the same as combined revenue of 1+2 as cargo travels same distance and about same time. Maybe revenue 3 would be slightly better because it does not need to turn and stop mid way.
Apparently, this was not the case. See attached picture. The profit of 3 is less than 1+2. And this is with 1+2 running cost being double than 3! How does this happen? Anyone can point me to transfer computation and how this can be more than direct delivery?

Sorry, my experiment was wrong. Obviously, two trucks transport cargo twice as fast each making shorter leg. I should compare two truck with middle station against two trucks non-stop.
