Difference in cost

Post by Jogamewa »

Hello,

Ik am trying to play Locomotion expert level: Santarinos. Very often I go and see on You Tube haw those levels are played.
However, I've noticed that the cost of building railroads is very often much cheaper than in my game.
I can't build the tracks that are build on 'You Tube' with the same ammount of money, because in my game they cost 9678$ over sea and on the played game in "You Yube" the are 2046$.
I am taking the same materials and the same route, and even then I can not build more dan 1/2.
Can anyone tell me how to lover the prices?
It is easy to end a game in a record breaking time when the cost is half as high.

Many thanks in advance for the answers.

Hello Jogamewa,

Welcome to Locomotion! The cost of building anything in game is partially controlled by inflation and different ObjectData files you can modify. Inflation causes things to be more expensive as time moves forward, and less expensive in the past. Double check the dates in the youtube video vs. when you are playing. You can also make your track cheaper by changing entries in your trackst.dat file, like buildcostfact or costind. Changing the .dat files is much more difficult and accident prone, but there are tutorials on these forums for how to do it. Try out that search bar!

Good luck!

You will find these files here ---> C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Locomotion\ObjData

Do not under any circumstances take the files in this folder. Otherwise you risk that the game will no longer work ---> C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Locomotion\Data

You can find out how to change the .dat files in this guide ---> https://www.walter1940.de/tutorial/xml-modding/english/
Works for vehicles as well as for industries and buildings. Since I still don't quite understand what exactly you want to change and where, I can't help you.
