Misc. Buildings Conversion

Post by glenjimen »

Hello Locomotion Community!

With recent updates to the openLocomotion project, you can place individual buildings in-game. Before, in order to add scenery or structures, you had to create them as stations. Then you had to lay track, and place them with all the construction restrictions of regular stations. Now, you can enable sandbox mode, and just place whatever wherever!

So, I'm converting some old mods from stations to Misc. Buildings that can be placed in-game.

This is a true game changer, thank you so much!
When I was younger I used to think those 2x2 buildings were actual port buildings haha!

The end of an era. No more 40-tile stations for me.

Great work! :)

Small tip from me - to prevent the towns replacing your buildings with roads (especially in big cities), build a fence around the buildings or at least in the places where roads lead up to them.

How to avoid the destruction of these buildings by AI or the town?
There is a coding guide? I have a small Spanish station, but I don't know how to code it to avoid to be destructed by the city.
Sorry if my english is too poor, I want learn it, but it isn't too easy.

This list of variables has a section on buildings. I haven't messed around with building objects personally, but all of the variables seem to work like any other object. "bit_2" is the one that makes an object destructible or not, with a value of 1 being indestructible.

I'm not sure how up-to-date the list is as a whole, but it's still been immensely helpful.
