So, I mentioned I wanted to make a modified version of AuzLandscapeObjects that places various trees, shrubs, etc. on the map randomly during map gen. I feel like I've got this at more or less a point I'm happy with. Note: a lot of objects were deleted, as I only wanted to spawn a selection of objects. Different grfid so you can still use it with your regular sets, only construction below snow line and outside of desert allowed. Warning: will make a mess of your farms. Farm land and clear ground tiles are unfortunately seen as one and the same for newobjects placement. Objects are only placeable during map gen and in scenario editor as to not clutter your menus when using the rest of AuzLandscape.

Modified source included, and a playable .grf ready to go.

This isn't really something I intend on supporting, it's a one-shot .grf I made in an afternoon of tinkering when I should have been doing laundry and other chores. If GarryG adds more objects that take my fancy I'll port them over to this. I may make similar companion .grf's for other sets of GarryG's with objects I want to auto-spawn. I may re-visit desert object spawning so that it plays nice with the pineapple_landscape .grf that I've been working on

Very good .. I hope get better chance tomorrow to try it and have a better look at what changes you made to code. I've tried to understand the coding on wiki .. but you almost already need to be a expert coder to understand it :D So all my coding been stolen from other sources and I not always sure if I changed what should have been changed :oops:

Your more then welcome to do what ever you like with my projects. If you want the source to any of them let me know and I will upload them for you and others to use.

VAST OBJECTS


Does any one have the VAST OBJECTS source they could send me?

The links that are on the VAST forum unfortunately fail to load.

Want to animate crops and gardens in some of my sets and hope can get the crops to animate same season each year. We got them working correctly in that respect, but they are glitching. So we missing something.

See the Oak Tree in VAST works perfectly, so hoping we can figure out the coding to work with other objects.

Hope someone can help/

Finally had chance to test your AuzLandscapeObjectsreMOD .. it works really well. I turned off trees back in "Settings" so that only trees from the AuzLandscapeObjectsreMOD will appear. Looks good that even the fallen trees are included.

You did a great job.

Could be a good idea and use it for all things that are being tested until all satisfied with it and then transfer it to its appropriate object sets.

The source that Aegir uploaded gave me a idea.

How would you like your game to start with clouds scattered all over the map.

At the moment they will appear over all land and water.

The hard part finding where the main 1x1 tile in on the ground as the clouds are different heights.

Also wonder if to disable the clouds appearing over the deserts and snow.

Make the tile marker visible when you turn on transparency mode.

A little guy with a laserpointer is probably a more realistic alternative :P

Joking aside, I am not sure if it is possible to have a different graphic in transparent mode...
At least not something that is not covered up by the graphic in normal mode.

One alternative is have something at the base .. but not want the same item at the base of all the clouds. There is 2 sets of 9 clouds so could have 18 different things at the bases of the clouds.

Was thinking to get Jack and his bean stork, but then I need to have a castle in the clouds as well ..

Rough ground / rocks make most sense, imo. They would give the player enough information to find the cloud, I suspect, and they should be least work as a bonus (automatically fits the climate etc; well, gotta take into account desert/snowtiles I guess ... but there's well-used switches for getting the correct groundtype so shouldn't be too much bother).

Found a problem about placing things as the base of the clouds .. the clouds also go over the water .. so decided leave the base blank.

I played a game with the clouds and I had no reason to find where the base of cloud is. I have OBJ_FLAG_ANYTHING_REMOVE in the code so no problem if I built a road, train line of something else and I end up placing it at base of cloud, the cloud just disappears. Any one want to replace the cloud they find more in AuzLandscapeObjects.

Clouds with load on all land and water surfaces.

Are you using AuzLandscapeObjects? It has object clouds that you place on the map manually. So I wonder if I add AuzCloudySky to the AuzLandscapeObjects will it work in games already in progress or will it crash the game?

EDIT: Just a thought .. if I add AuzCloudySky to AuzLandscapeObjects, this idea will not suit those players who do not like the clouds.

That's correct. Newobjects that can spawn by themselves can only do so during new map generation (random or heightmap). They cannot appear automatically on existing games or scenarios.

Subject: Off street parking


This months screenshot competition is SPORTS and looking at the entries so far (especially the entry by Stiui79) gave me a idea. I meant to have these made in time for the week end, but I been bed bound last 2 days and will be going back to bed after I send this and it only 11 am in morning here as I can not concentrate very long at computer.

In the country and small country towns they don't have parking lots for players and spectators to park their cars. They just park on the grass around the field. So I did a few off road parking objects and added to AuzSportObjects in the Spectator section.

How else could these off street parking be used? Well Maybe you can go camping, fishing or you shearing sheep this time of year.

Maybe you can think where else you would park your car off the road on grass.
