Changes
  • added engines
    • Lynx general purpose / express engine, 1650 hp, available around 1997
    • Xerxes steam heavy freight engine, 1450 hp, available around 1880
  • alternative liveries (via company colour combos) for
  • improved Griffon sprite
  • let Potash Hoppers refit as standard covered hoppers
  • covered hoppers now load at same speed as open hoppers
Fixes
  • incorrect buffer placement on gen 6 Ore Hopper

Kelpie and Intrepid gained railfreight red stripe livery. Griffon got triple-grey railfreight.

2.32.0 Release

Not savegame compatible with previous Iron Horse releases.

Changes
  • adjusted covered hopper (sheltered bulk cargo) wagons
    • Potash Hoppers are replaced by Chemical Covered Hoppers, sprites painted to suit potash, phosphate and similar cargos
    • brown Covered Hopper sprites are replaced by silver / grey sprites
    • added Dry Powder Hoppers
    • added Roller Roof Hoppers (available gen 5 and 6 only)
    • added Swing Roof Hoppers (available gen 5 and 6 only)
    • Grain Hoppers are replaced by dedicated Farm Products Hoppers, which refit to cereals and other crops, and also farm supplies
Fixes
  • 'Aggregate Wagon' not 'Aggregates Wagon' (consistency)
  • add missing quote for Xerxes (Fairyfloss)
  • remove extraneous buffer pixels from 8/8 livestock cars

Hey, still love using this set. But do you think it would be possible to add mail to the HST sets and the very high speed trains? I realize the Avenger or the Sizzler with express wagons is fast at 115/125 mph but past that you "could" retrofit less used passenger trains with mail and swap back and forth as needed.

- Dedicated mail wagon (more likely I'd do this).

First option sounds the best way. Opens up the option of having mixed sets on the HSTs.

- added HST Mail Vans for use with Firebird, Blaze and Scorcher HSTs

*Fixes*

- set correct buy menu order for Xerxes

I didn't add mail vans for the very high speed trains (Helm Wind and Brenner), they're a little more complicated due to the way the powered coaches work.
Maybe I'll do them later, maybe not :) There's RL precedent with TGV La Poste, but eh. :twisted:

The Firebird has some pax capacity which can't be refitted to mail. I'm not going to do anything about that. Something to be aware of :)

Hello, i like this set and ive been playing with it for some time now. I have some suggestions for this though, i assume this is reality based set so 1 idea in particular could be interesting while still keeping touch with reality.... Electric-steam engines! I always thought since i was kid, why no-one tried to combine electricity with steam and make power full, nature-friendly engine. Well, they did try. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqsuBj40zw8 It would be interesting to see this, most likely implemented as eletric engine, but one of very first ones?

How balanced is it to mix with nars 2.0 and all it's addons?

I wouldn't use both sets, pick one or the other. You might be able to get wagon capacities (or close enough) to match but with all the wagon types and engines in Iron Horse it's just better to leave out NARS. Besides, your buy list for rail might be awfully long to scroll down to the engine/wagon you want.

The good news is that any items you don't want, ctrl-click will hide them. But downside is that it's a really long list.

Neither set is balanced against any other sets (and this is pretty much not a thing, unless explicitly declared by the developer). Both sets have plenty of vehicles to choose from. IMO, use Iron Horse as an upgrade from default OpenGFX trains or if you want a generic-ish British theme, and choose NARS if you want a more specific North American theme.

was just hoping to use wagons from another set without the engines along with nars as it's wagons aren't very diverse 2cc wagons in nml is neat but pretty much just the same as 2cc trains in nml stats.
