AuzRoadSignObjects

After seeing the route markers that Ragin1_ did and wonder if I changed all my road signs so they to a big bigger.

So I tested a few and this the result.

The ones on the left are my originals .. the ones on right slightly bigger. The signs are Curve Ahead with safe speed, Junction, Give Way, and Stop signs.

Wonder what you think if I make all my signs that little bit bigger?

Thanks for your opinion .. I got lots of signs so will take me a while to change them all. Also the larger signs allow me the chance to introduce some others.

Will start on them over the weekend.

Cheers

I don't want (or have ;-) ) to get involved in this discussion too much, as I only use the Dutch roadsigns, but see how they look with vehicles driving next to them.
And then decide if they have the correct size/look...

Thanks for reminding me of the Dutch signs. So I just did a compare with them and they same size as the new ones I looking at doing so we should be ok.

The stop signs are 5 pixels wide and 6 deep and so are mine.

AuzRattRoadObjects

A few posts back I showed some larger road signs I experimenting with and thanks to Quast65 reminding me of the Dutch Furniture, discovered I alterations are same size as what they did so decided to base my enlarged signs an the Dutch Furniture so players can use them together, especially if one of us has made something the other hasn't.

Here a sample to what I done so far.
Larger Road Signs.png
Larger Road Signs.png (36.95 KiB) Viewed 2886 times
Changelog:
Change size of hollowing signs;
* Curve Ahead
* Junctions Ahead
* Stop Signs
* Giveway signs
* Livestock Ahead
* Speed Sign
* Road Narrows
* Old style finger boards

Like to add a few more as I have space for 10 IDs in this set.

These signs can go on either side of the road so suitable for US roads.

More to come .. cheers

Only enough room in this set for 2 more items, so I think I best to close it for good and this will be the final release of this set unless something needs repairs.

Of players think of other signs then they can go in "AuzRoadSignObjects" set which I hope to work on soon with fences with signs and the crash barrier objects.

The car parking on top of south-East side is wrong .. needs some adjustments. But this image should give some idea what like to add.

Not sure if have the glass down both southern sides, or just one and other side be just a brick wall.

AuzTownObjectsAddOns

Normally in the afternoon my son hogs the computer, but today he went bike riding with his friends, so I was able to work on the Shopping Mall some more and come up with this.
Shopping Centre3.png
Shopping Centre3.png (113.25 KiB) Viewed 2720 times
You need to use both the "Sydney Shop + Cars" to build the northern section and in the middle. You then use the "Shopping Malls" to build the southern walls like in this image.

I have not included Car Park entrances .. the cars enter from the back of the shops.

You should be safe to use this new release. I have not altered anything from previous release .. I just added these Shopping Malls pieces.

I plan to pinch the Loading Bays from the Liverpool set and include them with the shopping mall. They should go well along the brick wall section.

Cheers all

EDIT

See not too many downloaded this yet so might as well make available the next on with the Track Bay, Car Park Entrance and Exits and the Fore Exit Doors.
Shopping Centre4.png
Shopping Centre4.png (43.4 KiB) Viewed 2685 times
Each part can be places in either end of in middle.

Been asked on the side if should only have 2 levels of car parking in this shopping mall. Just the top and next one down. Make the brick walls higher to cover the next level. What you think?

Hi,
I want to thank you so much for your excellent work (I'm really starting to play with a little part of it but I'm actually amazed) and maybe report a little bug. I really don't mind very much, but it is there. I try to attach a picture and as you can see the bench of the farm dissapear behind the wall of the depot. Actually it is "Diesel train depot extension (Overlap Far End)".
This trick of the fake wall of the depot is great! As said, thanks for all!

That can be one of the many problems using overlaps. They often glitch.

Take a look at the boundingbox of the overlap.
Sometimes issues like this are caused by the overlap not having a boundingbox.

I just checked it do not have a bounding box. The main shed is platforms with the overlay extension.

Can they be turned on for the overlap?

You probably just need to enlarge it, for stations the boundingbox info can be found with this tutorial:
http://www.simuscape.net/simutalk/viewt ... 183#p12192
(Scroll down a bit)

EDIT1:
There are 3 values, the ones I highlighted in the tutorial is Z-direction, X and Y are the two values before it.

EDIT2:
It could be possible that you need a negative value to get the boundingbox extended to the overlap.
Let me know if you cant extend the boundingbox to the overlap, Ill see if I can find that information somewhere again on how to get a negative boundingbox in NFO ;-)

EDIT3:

Code: Select all

IIRC, count backwards from FF for -1, FE for -2, FD for -3 etc.
AuzRoadSignObjects
Going to take me a lot longer then planned to do what I planned for these. I think it could take me rest of the year .. maybe a bit longer.

Looking at the Dutch Furniture and I was thinking they are a bit big, but honest they not. I traveled along the Highway between Newcastle and Sydney today using google earth and compared some signs with a vehicle near it and most signs are bigger then the cars and trucks.
These some images I took. Compare the vehicle width to the sign near them. So I be re-doing a lot of my signs by enlarging them a few pixels so can add a few clear details (I hope).

Next time your driving along the road and see some road signs see if safe to stop near it and compare size of your vehicle with it.

Good way to practice your drawing skills using other peoples work. That I learnt what I been doing.

The long sign you did is really a bit too long.

Here some measurements that might help.

* A tile is 32 pixels across from North-west to South-East and South-west to North-East.
* The roads are usually 20 pixels wide (10 pixels per lane) and the shoulders each side 6 pixels each.

These templates hope give you a idea. Depending how tall you sign is to what one you would use.
Sign Template.png
Sign Template.png (5.84 KiB) Viewed 2391 times
Sign Template Tall.png
Sign Template Tall.png (4.55 KiB) Viewed 2391 times
* The green area is the actual tile and the yellow represents parts of a road which some smaller signs will overlap.
* The smaller signs such as speed signs, curve ahead, stop signs would be placed in the yellow area (overlapping the road shoulder). The reason for not placing them along the edge is that is where a fence goes.
* The big signs would go in the green area close to the edge.

If we are to place signs on gantry across the roads then that will be different template.

If you want more templates let me know.

Yes, probably both (and the 03 too).
The very first number of the three is the X-direction, second Y-direction and the last (so that 03) the Z-direction.
Not sure where you got the ... from
Ages ago, when I started making the ISR/DWE-objects set, I had a similar issue with overlaps to the NorthWest-direction.
Extending boundingboxes usually only works towards the SouthEast-direction.
Therefor they needed to get a negative value, but you cant give negative values in NFO.
But the clever people who developed this game, have a solution for that ;-)
You need to count backwards from FF (in hexadecimal). FF, FE, FD, FC, etc etc
That way the boundingbox moves backwards.

In this case, the X-direction needs to get that "negative" value for one view of the station, for the other view its the Y-direction that needs to get a "negative" value.

It may also need adjustments to the offsets of the graphics, but try enlarging the boundingbox backwards first and see what happens.
It needs to cover the entire thing, so actual platform and the overlap.
