Screenshots do not save to locomotion folder

Post by Jagged_bacon »

I recently took a couple screens of the layouts I've been working on, however not one of them can be found on my PC. Even stranger, the screenshots I attempt to take have the message "Screenshot15.bmp has saved" "Screenshot16.bmp has saved" and so forth. If they are not on my computer how does the SS number keep going up? Does anyone else have a similar issue?

Which version of Locomotion are you running, and which folder are you looking in?

The version is the latest 1.76 patch, and the folder is the standard C/programfiles86x/atari/locomotion

Right, but is this a physical copy or was it downloaded?

Many years ago, in the German Forum one has the same problem. Search through the entire PC (also second edited hard drives) for the term "screenshot" or ".bmp". He found the screenshots in a completely different folder when I remember correctly.

My first assumption would be that Locomotion is running without admin privileges and is thus not allowed to write into the Programs folder (which programs generally should not do, but Locomotion comes from a time where most devs didn't bother following Microsoft's guidelines).

In that case, your files are most likely getting re-routed into the virtual store, at C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\. Running Locomotion as admin might help, but I generally wouldn't recommend that approach.

You might also have success with an external screenshot tool, like Greenshot.
