Handicaps - Change the amount of starting money

OpenTTD is a great game, but one feature I'm shocked has not been implemented is a handicap system. This would allow worse players and AIs to somewhat compete with better players. It would also allow AIs like TownCars to build huge amounts of vehicles without running out, as opposed to either needing special vehicles or only building very few ones.

This system could work by giving the server operator a pop-up when a new player joins a server, where they can set the handicap that will remain in future. AIs could be set up this way, but they could also be configured in menus to make it more convenient.

This can be done using game script. GS allows to send money to a company and it can do the popup for selecting the difficulty. No need to change the source code of OpenTTD. The only thing is that I did not find how to handle AIs.

If you wanting to just have fun and want lots of money to start with .. just hold down Ctrl + Alt + C .. brings up a screen where you can collect 20 million. :D

Good for kids (and us big kids) to play that way as not go bankrupt and just have a lot of fun.

Alternatively, use a base cost modifier newgrf, lower your costs or set them to $0. :)

i think you both are missing the point: none of these are suitible to adjust individual companies in a multiplayer game.

But setting the cost to 0 means that it is impossible to lose.

Also, using cheats to add money isn't quick enough to have TownCars spawn many cars.
