Can't get music to work (OpenMSX)

Post by NessPJ »

Hi guys,

I recently started playing OpenTTD again with a friend and upgraded from 1.8.0 to 1.10.1.

Ever since i upgraded, OpenMSX (or any Midi music for that matter) will not work.

SoundFX work fine, but no matter what i do i can't get the music to work.

I tried deleting the OpenMSX basefiles and redownloading them using 'Online content'. I also tried using the different drivers dmusic/win32 like the Wiki mentions but nothing changed.
I tried using the latest nightly build instead of 1.10.1.

I'm using fully updated Windows 10 Pro and a Logitech G330 Headset (with the USB soundcard that comes with it).

Any tips?

-m <driver>
Sets OpenTTD music driver. Depending on your build, valid drivers may includenull for no musicdmusic for DirectMusicwin32 for Windows MIDIextmidi for external MIDIbemidi for BeOS MIDI

PS.

If i run a game of DooM (ZDaemon/ZDoom), the music does actually work. Which should also be midi music for the original game at least.

Solved it! Someone on Reddit hinted this could be the music player that was set to stop/pause for some reason.
I never knew there was actually a music player (lol).
I pressed play and voilá!
