Maglev --> Roads [Developing]

Post by tubechallenger »

Right. I have taken over from bobxp on the maglev to roads project.

bobxp has done some of the work and I will continue, if you find his old topic you will see his screenshots.

I'll give updates every few days.

Seemed a good thing to post :P

Anyway, I don't really see the use of this except for the possibility of adding trucks with trailers (or whatever you call them). Would be nice to see that. But than again, we've got trains, we don't really need something else.

Because in the real world, roads are more common than railways, so it would be nice to have some roads that function like the real world counterparts.

Update:

I have started doing the bridges and have edited NFO files to make the lorrys etc. not symetrical so now they can work.

On the screenshots that I will post over time you will notice that the Maglev --> Road Track will have a slightly paler centre to them. This is to help you know which is which.

There are stations which are a new variety for the roads so they look like proper bus/lorry stops like a Drive Through and also, request to patchers: Is it possible to make the roads have traffic lights?

Thanks
David

Here it is.

The MagLev tracks are slightly lighter in the centre.

Cool.

By the way, it still needs to be made for Tropical and Arctic climates.
And there should be a light part in the middle of the sloping tracks. :]

I'm currently making replacement toyland graphics, so if either of us makes maglev graphics for toyland before the other is done there will be a conflict. Solution: Don't bother with the toyland ones until I'm done with the toyland graphics. :D

just a couple of things for me to say, and for you to (possibly) listen to:

can these new 'roads' be made so that the road stretches right to the edge of the tile? otherwise you'll get patches of grass in the middle of every road, which might look a bit silly...

also, if you put a line on each edge of the road graphic, A) it will create a line for the middle of the road (good for two-way roads), and B) it looks ok at the edge of the road too

stay cool with this project, i never use maglevs anyway and this will be great if its done well!
what is control?

Mr Anderson... where have I heard that before... Oh yes, blake house variety show  COUGH

Anyway, it would look stupider for the road to go right to the edge of the tile because then the road wouldn't have an edge. :|

Will it only be compatible with that road set? (The junctions...)

The road set is included with the gfx.

However I will make a version for the standard roads.
