Looking for tips in creating a map.

Post by pfcbrooklyn »

Coming from the DC area, the packs that have CSX, WMD, C&O, B&O, AMTRAK (okay thats enough!) really make me happy that i get to look at all the old locomotives i saw as a kid.

What i am looking to create is a map similar to the one attached.

The question is, where do i even begin? I downloaded the map generator but i am unsure how to even use it. Everything else, the towns, industry, etc are easy for me to add, its just the map is whats killing me!

So any tips, advice or a step by step would be much appreciated.

I know this forum doesnt see a lot of action these days, but the amount of information and mods here is amazing. Thanks for all the hardwork yall have done over the years!

Greyfox is right. (Thanks by the way)
You will find 206 grayscale maps of North America on this link. https://www.walter1940.de/karten-maps/
They are all larger than the required 384x384 pixels. That means either you cut out parts or you reduce them overall to the required size.
I've already looked. Unfortunately there is only one map of Maryland. But maybe one or the other will help you.

EDIT
Well, you can also create your own map on this website. But there is a lot of work involved, because you have to set everything correctly, then you have to blur the map and finally cut it. But this is how you get the card you are looking for.

But in principle it works.

Thank you both! I took Grey's advice and went to your website and used the baltimore image. It came out pretty good! It's not exactly what i was looking for but overall, it looks great and kinda feels like home!
