Re: [OTTD] LaRoso's Screenshot Collection
Junction looks alright. You could keep the hard shoulder consistent by making the tunnels two tiles longer and moving the connecting roads one tile away. Another improvement could be eliminating the number of turns available, then your road vehicles won't slow down as much.LaRoso wrote:speaking of which: what do you think about this highway junction? Wow, there are a lot of trains in that station for the amount of platforms you have. 11 trains to 6 platforms. Does it ever get blocked?LaRoso wrote:This is what I meant:acs121 wrote:Overcrowded ?

Yep it doesdol422 wrote: Wow, there are a lot of trains in that station for the amount of platforms you have. 11 trains to 6 platforms. Does it ever get blocked?
Re: [OTTD] LaRoso's Screenshot Collection
You can actually route up to 66 trains on a 6-track station if all trains are correctly timetabled.

Re: [OTTD] LaRoso's Screenshot Collection
Nice highway interchange. Al tough a bit compact for a rural looking area. They are surprisingly big in real.
Spotted 1 missing one way road. Between the two top connection cars can go wrong way over the highway. It was hidden behind a light post
Why can a platform handle 11 trains???
It all depends on route length how many trains you can sent to a station.

I said "route up" so actually a 6-track station can have 66 trains having orders in the station. Of course, there are factors that increase train handling :jor[D]1 wrote:Nice highway interchange. Al tough a bit compact for a rural looking area. They are surprisingly big in real.

- station is through-station
- no non-stop trains going by the platforms
- route length of trains sent to the station
- correct timetabling of them

On the timetable thing: I had some problems and opened up another thread
Hope anybody can help

Re: [OTTD] LaRoso's Screenshot Collection
I wondered if it makes sense to make the tunnels one tile longer, and have the outgoing stream, away from the town, go around like you have now, but then not connect to the highway, but first run it over the tunnels. That makes a nicer merge lane, much like your other connections.LaRoso wrote:speaking of which: what do you think about this highway junction? Being a retired OpenTTD developer does not mean I know what I am doing.
Re: [OTTD] LaRoso's Screenshot Collection
Hey,
After a long break, I'm at it again with a new game scenario. My goal? A perfect timetable for all the trains. It's gotta take some time, I know. Especially with a map that big and with that many cities. Here's the map with my current progress: And this is, where it all began:
You may note, I'm not concentrating on eye candy (at least for now, maybe later), I just want to have a highly efficient but also somewhat realistic railway network. The timetable repeats after one hour in-game.
Here is an example of a timetable (I'm sorry, that everything is German :/ ): The timetable is 300 minutes long. I have 5 trains, makes one train every hour.
I worked way too much on making sure, every train can get into and out of the station without colliding with any other train. It was like 10 hours of work for this one station. I can provide my lists, tables, and drawings if you're interested.
The map has about 200 cities. If I connect them all and do such a work, I will end up with 2000h of work.
I will probably abandon the project at some point...
Anyway, here's another station, I'll probably work on next:
Here's a tip for you guys:
Don't do that. Build a lot of eye candy. You can't see timetabled and organized trains in screenshots.
That's it for now. I hope I remember to post here regularly to keep you updated.

Re: [OTTD] LaRoso's Screenshot Collection
Actually, when I'm not in the mood of timetabling and stuff, I do work on eye candy.
Here is, for example, the Alzhausen train station with two platforms for long-distance trains and two underground platforms for regional trains or Klein Miesleben
These are only stations I eye-candied. Of course, I planned to build a lot of eye-candy everywhere else.

Re: [OTTD] LaRoso's Screenshot Collection
That's what I mean:
That's what I've been working on lately. As I said, goal is to make this for the whole map. Huge project and I would guess about 2% is done
I'll keep this post updated.
