Can't find each other games.

Post by Phex »

I know, the answer is "open port 3979". We did that, but still can't find each other servers.

We tried everything. Proxy, turning off firewalls, even hamachi.

Picture of Game telling me i should open Port

We can't be both too dumb to open ports, can't we?

On what platform are you playing? Windows for instance has a software firewall that might have to be told to allow traffic over port 3979.

Make sure your router is diverting the traffic to the right local address. Some routers need to be told that you're forwarding a port and its traffic should go to a specific local IP address (machine) rather than a blanket all of them.

If you are trying to find each other on the server browser, make sure that the hosting computer has set 'advertise' to on.

You can start your server and then either try to connect (e.g. telnet) or run a port scan (e.g. nmap) to see if your server is visible to the world. The easy way is to use a web service to run the port scan. e.g. https://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/

If that doesn't show an open port, you need to look again at the router and/or firewall configuration.
