Norway, Iceland & Sweden got my 3 votes tonight!

The sorta "half-time show" was rather neat!

Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Madonna was completely thrilled to be interviewed, wasn't she?
Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Not as much as Quavo. And it's refreshing to see a music artist just so completely familiar with a fellow performing artist's back catalog!Redirect Left wrote:Madonna was completely thrilled to be interviewed, wasn't she?
I'm sure the performance will be much better. I enjoyed the small performance from all the past winner, as well as Netta's new song.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Okay this is... not good. The remixed music for "Like a Prayer" is nice, but Madonna's vocals just aren't there. The original song was so vibrant and powerful. This version feels like I'm listening to a 45 RPM album and it's dragging and warbling. It felt very lackluster, despite the theatrics.
"Future", on the other hand, much nicer. Madonna didn't have to try to hit any notes, the choreography was tight and the music was perfectly paced.
I'd have been happy not to hear her butcher "Like a Prayer".

Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Future was saved by Quavo and Madonna being autotuned, Like a Prayer was a disaster.
Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
I wasn't a fan of either song. I agree with both of your opinion's on "Like a Prayer" completely though.
I thought the autotune on "Future" made it even worse. Who autotunes someone like Madonna?!

Honestly, after "Like A Prayer" i think the auto tune was needed, i think without it, her performance overall would be rated a catastrophe.Pilot wrote: I thought the autotune on "Future" made it even worse. Who autotunes someone like Madonna?!
Now we wait for the votes to be counted, tallied, and for Jon Ola Sand to prepare the perfect deer in headlights look!
Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
I'm not adverse to autotune when it makes sense. It made sense here.
What doesn't make sense? How many votes North Macedonia is getting right now! It was an alright song but I was not expecting this!
And with Bulgaria's vote, Israel is on the board, nobody gets nil! Nice to see San Marino gets some votes too.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Some of these Green screens for the Jury Vote announcements are amusingly crap!
I'm just glad the UK has some points, but definitely surprised at North Macedonia running away with it atm.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Alright, we won the jury vote. Who'll get the popular vote? Netherlands? That's what the odds say.
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)

Germany getting 0 points from the public was an ooof, and also, the UK are finishing last!
Who will win, that's gonna be interesting!

Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Gratz to the Netherlands! I didn't think their entry was the most amazing personally (nor did a lot of Brits by the looks of it), but hey ho.
Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Wow, Netherlands made a huge swing from 3rd in jury voting to winning via the public vote!

Iceland. Palestine. Wow. I loved that. Greatest moment in Eurovision for many years.
Congratulations to Netherlands, but I'm just not a fan of the song.

So yeah, uh...Redirect Left wrote: I also reckon the UK may break into the top 15 this year, but we'll see!
Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
That bottom spot was very undeserved. The UK wasn't bad, although maybe the performance was lacking somewhat.
0p for Germany hurt, but 7 for Czech Republic stunned me. Did not expect such a low score for a friend of a friend of a friend.
Sweden's 90 something score in the popular vote felt fair. P6 is reasonable for us. Looking forward to seeing Netherlands host next year.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest, 2019
Probably best thing about Netherlands winning (as honestly, I didn't rate the song), its near enough for me to consider going to next year!
I am surprised Sweden scored under 100 from the public vote, Germanys 0 wasn't surprising to me. Well, a little surprising it scored so low, i expected a dozen or so at least more than anything but i didn't expect it to do highly well. The UK try to play it too safe with staging, and never go far enough to stand out lately.
So going back to my predictions
I screencapped the final result, so how badly did I do?
Now the dust has settled;
Were it down to the public only, Norway would have been the clear winners, with Netherlands taking second: https://metro.co.uk/2019/05/19/norway-w ... c-9598213/
Madonna had a silent protest, or at least one of her dancers did, they slipped in a Palestinian flag on their back. Eurovision were later quoted as saying they did not give permission for that.
Iceland also had a jab at the Israel/Palestine situation, their band 'Hatari' held up banners in support of palestine during a camera shot to them during the points counting segment.

8/10, only Denmark & Spain let me down. Spain had a bit of a bad day, but not too surprising if I look back at the evening.Netherlands
Sweden
Iceland
Australia
Denmark
Azerbaijan
Russia
Switzerland
Spain
Norway
