Server issues
Hello!
I have setup a dedicated server for myself and a friend. But he does not seem to be able to join. (It says the server is down).
It shows that he is not querying the server from the console and I can join. I have also added him as a special person who can access the port 3979.
We have also allowed both in and out both utc and dtp from his pc.
Running ubuntu.
Any ideas?

Re: Server issues
If you don't allow the OpenTTD server to access your server via UDP and TCP/IP on ports 3979 and 3978, then the server will be indicated offline by OpenTTD's server list and your friend can only access it by directly entering your IP addressUnfamousThomas wrote:Hello!

Re: Server issues
Is this only server side or do I have to open the ports on my friends PC as well?
Re: Server issues
Just server-side. Client connections are outbound and generally don't need any special treatment, unless it's in a locked-down environment.
He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.

Re: Server issues
Your router (if any) to the server will also need to allow inbound connections and possibly will need to apply appropriate NAT forwarding

Re: Server issues
It is a dedicated server machine provided by OVH. So how would I do that? That is why it is so weird because I can connect but it is not in my network.

Re: Server issues
In that case there is no firewall on OVH side blocking it.UnfamousThomas wrote:It is a dedicated server machine provided by OVH. So how would I do that? That is why it is so weird because I can connect but it is not in my network.

Right. Which is weird, we have even opened the ports in Windows firewall. (Only 3990) but I cannot imagine everyone has to go through this.
