Gwyd's French Trainset

Post by Gwyd »

I know, I know 2 in one day.
But to celebrate Easter I've decided to release this, inspired by a recent trip to Paris.
Expect to see more on this date next year

Whoa ! I really love these, man. I think i could do some for you. Also, i think the BB 27300 looks too much like the BB 7600...

Lol they're both BB7600s, just one is reversed to show how it works as a push-pull set

Do you plan tracks for trains with penumatic tyres ?

Yes, I plan to make several track types: 25kV AC, 1.5kV DC, 3rd rail (metro), pneumatic tire track (metro) and standard unelectrified track

So, I've seen your set and it's quite great ! I shall make a little review...

- You should add a parameter for using or not the tracks provided with this set. Right now, a french train can't go on normal, clean OpenTTD rails.
- The translation string for the default livery of the Z5300 in french is "SNCF (Bleu et Jaune)", while there has never been any Z5300 which was blue and yellow (however, some DMUs, such as the Caravelle series, did have a blue and yellow engine running between Cannes and Ranguin, which is named X 94630).
- Z 20500 trains generally have either 4 cars or 6 cars, not 5.

Otherwise, it's a really cool set, and I might even include it in my games - as I lack commuter trains generally...

The track switch is something I intended to put in from the start. I've just added and uploaded it now.

Yes, but I want to use the set with Finescale tracks. And the problem is that STIF's 3rd rail track overrides the track type from Finescale. So my suggestion is that you should add a parameter for people who wouldn't want to use the provided tracks (as many track sets provide them too).

The latest version uploaded to BaNaNaS has a parameter which you can use to enable the tracks (it is off by default)

I've been doing a bit more work on some French trains including but not limited to;
-More "Nez cassé" design locomotives for the mainline such as the BB 15000
-2N NG multiple units
-Some more passenger coaches, particularly for use in push-pull trainsets

Edit: here's something to actually show for it

Hi there, I really like the French trainset you created.
But, are you planning to add TGV's in your set?
I think this will make your set more awesome.
Also, are contributors are welcome? Especially for artist who are willing to help.

Sorry for many questions, I'm just new here in forum :D

So time to update everyone on what I've been up to.

I've been working on some more loco hauled and older stock (RIB, BB 17000, Z 57000 perhaps), in addition to fixing an updating the track set to be compatible with Dutch trains which can operate on DC catenary tracks (as well as many other trainsets). There's also going to be a HUGE rebalance of the costs: £41,000 for a train that carries 2000 passengers!?

In response to the previous post: STIF is a trainset set in Paris so will only have suburban and metro passenger trains and is not intended to be used alone. In the future I may release a wider French passenger set (BB 22200, Z 24500, V2N, corail and others). I am currently happily working on this set alone and do not plan to take any additional graphics.

A new upload will come to BaNaNaS in the next few weeks.
