Very funny 'bug'.
It should be that two locos will fit in the size of one...but look what happenes...

The thing is that I wanted to put two together, in the space of one normal loco.

No, the spacing of train vehicles cannot be changed. That won't even change when I implement new train engines.
This is just a fundamental limitation of the train movement routines in TTD.
