Largest junctions?

Post by MT3269 »

What's the biggest junction you folks have created in OTTD? This screenshot shows the busiest one in my current scenario, but it must be fairly insignificant compared to the largest ones created.

BTW, is there any mod that supports map sizes of 8192 x 8192 or larger?

Well, my junctions are usually more squeezed than that but here are some examples of rather busy areas.

I like your work there Trainskier but Chrill - for some reason I find you're screenshots very compelling. I love the design and how it weaves through the city. I've started a new game with renewed enthusiasm thanks to you!

Although in general, I have loads more track around stations to get the cargo in and out, like

Could the network itself count as junction too?

This is the FreightChallenge scenario, old, but a fun day day trying to service all industries in a very small space and no terraforming to enlarge the area should be done.
Being a retired OpenTTD developer does not mean I know what I am doing.

I had a 4 and 4 vertical mainline merging with a 3 by 3 horizontal line which required quite a hefty junction. I could only get my head around it by creating a roundabout (one corner at a time!) I then stuck some bridges over the top to let some trains head straight over without going through the roundabout. When it all got uncomfortably cluttered I stripped back the bridges and built tunnels around the edge.
The junction allows trains on each track to head onto any of the other tracks.

The best spot to see some junction highlights from the coop games is their junctionary. The example from PSG 268, seen near the bottom of the page, is epic.
