Re: The Thread Of Randomness
I needs Excel help
Or Google Spreadsheets actually but it's all the same, more or less. Here's what I want to do:
1) Find the highest value of two numbers. This is easy, I will just use =MAX(cell XY on page 1, cell XY on page 2) because I am comparing a number on two different pages of a spreadsheet.
2) AND THIS IS THE ONE I CANNOT FIGURE OUT. I want to return the number from above, as well as attaching which page I get the value from.
So for example:
Page 1, field B3 might say 1.3.
Page 2, field B3 might say 1.6.
I want to create a formula that will say 1.6, and next to that (in a new field, with conditional formatting, whatever), I want it to state Page 2 or something else that distinguishes where it found the higher of the two values.
Anyone?

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
If you would have a page with the max per page and the page name, you could do a VLOOKUP on that with the max value you actually have. Otherwise you could write some extremely convoluted mess of nested IF-statements, IF(MAXVALUE=MAX(Page1);Page1;IF(MAXVALUE-MAX(Page2);Page2;...Chrill wrote:I needs Excel help

No, but I do intend to do that if I have some time when I have caught up on some other series (House of Cards, the Marvel shows).Chrill wrote:Designated Survivor.

Yes. Well watch it. Season 2 just premiered, and it promises to be as good as season 1. Season 1 of Designated Survivor easily ranks in my top 5 best ever seasons of any TV show.

Forgot to pay the internet bill. Got to use mobile data tethered to my PC until Friday.
Painful.

I get the feeling we may have had this conversation before, but is there a reason your broadband payments aren't made by direct debit? As far as I'm aware a fair number of ISPs don't offer payment by any means other than direct debit.

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
I've had bad experiences with DDs, excess payments or payments being duplicated. Another reason is you have more sway with support when you've not paid yet. They're a lot more eager to please when they haven't got their money yet.
Sky & Virgin are the only ISPs i've been with, and both allow you to pay online (or over the phone) as & when.

Well, today at work we're all dressed up for Halloween. I went for the scariest costume I could think of.

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
The point of the topic isn't to be random, it is to collect posts that would otherwise stand alone as their own topic into a mega-thread about all sorts of topics.TheDOSManiac wrote::mrgreen::arrow::evil:8)

I still can't get my head around how this thread has grown. I wasn't even trying to create something that would become a staple...

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
back in the ancient times before the internet, when every one used dialup modems and call forwarding, there were BBS's. And most of them had a "sub" for miscellaneous or random stuff. That sub would always be one of the most active.
