I've been considering doing the 41x and 42x classes for a while now, but i haven't had the time, and I don't think I will have the time for a few weeks to come, so I don't think I will do it any time soon.

That's fair. I've used PixelTool to try and make a 423 in NSE colours, how's this for my attempt? Feel free to comment/criticise, it's literally the first sprite I've drawn.

There are a couple of issues: Using white on the sprite itself is a big no-no. Use nearly white, otherwise you get graphical errors.

The other issues are more minor, more art preference: Windows can be made with pale blue purples rather than black. Also spacing is a bit of an issue on the TS sprite. There seems to be a bit missing on the 5th across on each row. I know I sound a bit critical, but it is very good, and clearly represents a class 423.

**Edit** The sprites on the front car are incorrectly ordered. This isn't a problem, but makes coding it a bit more tedious. The order is usually (pointing towards) North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, Northwest

Its also good practice to make the sprites on the sheet in the order they appear in the consist. Again for ease of coding :)

Ok, thanks for the advice/help. I'll do some practicing and work on the sprites and I'll post the results in a week or so!

Edit: What's the TS sprite?

Trailer Second?

There are a few graphical glitches, mainly on the fronts where it doesnt come out symmetrical. Might need a touch up in MSpaint after Pixeltool. PT isnt perfect after all ;)

As for the orientation, use the 374 spritesheet below for reference on directions and spacing.

Yeah Pixeltool for whatever reason doesn't like to make my sprite symmetrical, especially with the view from the back, it removes the right side of the carriage completely.

Edit: This is a Class 423 I made in Pixeltool + some editing in Paint, is this up to standards?

A cursory glance tells me that's very good. I kinda wanted to do this one, but seeing your efforts, I won't.

Looking good Helmar.

I wonder if that red on the bottom livery is animated in the openttd pallette?

I'll double check

EDIT:
Yeah it is an animated colour. IIRC it fades from black to red continuously. It's on some other BRTrains sprite too at the moment: rather irritating. Someone should probably fix that...

Is that something that can be fixed in coding or only via changing the sprites?

Since IEP classes are now arriving in testing, probably a good time to investigate a basic shape to suit sprites.

According to the tracking sheet, we already have classes 800-802. As far as the animated pixels go, you simply have to change the colour; there's no other way around it as far as I know.

Sorry for mot being active recently. Exams, blender, and other such things have taken over my life as well as going into a bit of a creative slump. As you can see from my profile, the vast majority of my posts are here (make what you will of that  ) so I really was slightly upset once development of this set had unfortunately slowed due to Leanden's medical problems (not his fault ofc). I can't guarantee I'll be active, but I'll try.

I've also completely redone most of the class 170s, as you can see from this mockup file, they are at the bottom. I am currently in the process of drawing all my graphics in this style, as I think it looks better both proportionally, and aesthetically. :)

Nice Desiro Cities! Haven't seen them yet. What are the 4th and 5th from the bottom?

4th and 5th are the Bombardier M7 EMU and Kawasaki M8 respectively, made for the NARS pack.

Ahh. Makes sense since I know next to nothing about railways outside of my country. In other news I've made progress in reworking my EPB set.
