RASH - Getting Started

Post by colossal404 »

I'm about to start a new project, I think it will be easy to guess what is it about:
Can anyone guess the type from the picture? Or is it too generic now?

Whoa, that looks amazing!
Why don't you finish and code it? It's wonderful! :D (side views should be much easier than diagonals [at least for me])

I made it like a week ago ;) and I would always draw side views first for vehicles (think how much You actually see side views in game).

Annnd even coding gets started, I compiled a very early grf, just to see the truck's dimensions in game.

Can anyone can help me with the original (1987) specifications of the Peterbilt 379? I don't find what engine was the original and how much cargo could it transport...

That's by no means a requirement. All it needs is a statement of the author "I do release this under GPL". Which this is.

It's nice to have it stated explicitly as it makes it then easy to see even without this posting, though.

it's not a requirement, it's a suggestion...
To do so, attach the following notices to the program. It is safest
to attach them to the start of each source file to most effectively
convey the exclusion of warranty; and each file should have at least
the "copyright" line and a pointer to where the full notice is found.
and this is especially helpful if individual files are published outside of a full repository/package (like, single attachments in a random thread)

Oh, three years have passed, and I didn't do a thing to this grf... Okay.
But nowadays as I see Neko started his own road vehicles set I get the inspiration to code the already drawn vehicles. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to "steal" the grf users from his set, but some motivation can do a miracle to anyone's mood for work. I don't have any concrete plans with this set, anyone can use my drawings if want (my sets are under GPL2), but I just wouldn't like to draw partial work in anyone's set, because the drawing styles won't match.

Enough speak for now, there's the grf:
The trucks use the same trailer, only a few variants are drawn, so not all cargoes covered! All of them (all 4, yay!) are refittable, FIRS compatible (as I know, there might be new cargoes since I last search after it), and has some choice in trailers for some cargoes.

It would be nice if someone did up a realistic 2cc North American set, though you might find that if you do North American buses that after the 80's the market seems to become Dominated by Canadian made buses from MCI, New Flyer, and Nova bus.

Also my set will be more Generic, kind of like Andythenorths Road Hog set, though I'll probably have a little more variety with the trucks. I'm almost done the buses, I just have one more Early bus to do for the 1930's generation based on a Mack AL Bus (unless I find something better for a short early bus from the late 20's to the early 40's)

Thanks!

This will be sort of generic too, because I use the same trailer for all of them. This way they won't get unique graphics for everything, which is a big gameplay lost, but this speed up the process a lot.

Anyways, some new things:
Peterbilt 352 & 362, Western Star 4900 and a huge log on a trailer:

Edit: BTW, I didn't find data from the Western Star, can anyone tell the year it got in production?
