Hi! Very good screenshots! I like them . Beautiful railway infrastructureLankku wrote:A few shots from today's play time.
Monitoring the western Honshu mainlines has made me realise how busy they are. Hiroshima is probably one of the more crowded areas. Tsu, though on a stub of a line, is also quite busy, mainly due to freight. Being unable to add large numbers of trains to this area, expansion has been achieved with the use of ships to bring in additional grain and livestock from Nagoya, and trucks to connect more local farms and to transport goods to Osaka. The aforementioned ships on the river west of Nagoya. The station of Nagoya West was recently expanded due to increased passenger traffic. The station approach was also reworked. Previously the lines west and south merged into a single line before reaching Nagoya. now they have their own approaches. The line the skirts around the top and left of the picture is a recent addition, built for steel trains nor serving the factory in Tsu.

New Game. Temperate climate, UKRS2, with CargoDist for passengers, mail and valuables for something new.
Sarthill is currently my main hub for passenger trains on the two lines I currently operate. They cross here, allowing passengers to change routes. The shorter trains are local services calling at every stop, while the longer ones are Semi-Fasts, calling only at cities. Plindbury, a more minor station, with two Semi-Fast services in view.

Looks great! Are you using a different version of the British station set than on Bananas? I can't place island shelters like the way you have done (without a blank platform in-between).

I'm using the version I found on Bananas. That tile is right at the bottom of the list.

Re: [OTTD] Lankku's Screenshots 'n' Other Junk
Traffic through Sarthill has increased somewhat, leading me to expand the station quite early. New lines have been built and are mainly used by freight trains, keeping them off the Sarthill mainlines.
Lenville, a city near Sarthill was my original choice as my hub, but I switched to Sarthill because of its more convenient location. Traffic here is light currently, with frieght trains being more frequent than passenger services. In the coming years I may alter a few of my routes to terminate at Lenville rather than Sarthill, and connect the two stations with buses.
Mahattan is a city in the bottom corner of the map, and currently serves as the terminus for three lines and for my Goods trains from the factory near Dredingham. The city is growing rapidly so I may expand the station early to prevent the later hassle.

A grain train coming off the branchline near New Fronfingfield. The branch is currently freight only, but I intend to expand it to connect with most of the small settlements in the area.
The factory near Dredingham. Agricultural trains come in from across my current catchment area, while Steel comes in from Dranington. The goods is then shipped by rail to Mahattan, or to Lenville by boat

It's been a long time since I've played OpenTTD but I got the urge again so I started up a British game. Here are a few shots.

Re: [OTTD] Bad Hair Day's Bad Screenshots
The only serious issue with the map, otherwise I rather like it.
Anyway I've been playing a little more. The number of routes has increased but some were underused and but my finances in a precarious position. A number of excess trains are being stored while more expensive to run express locos are being steadily replaced with Britannias.
Routemap in late 1951. Luton is an interchange station on the London-Birmingham line. Stoppers from London North to Birmingham use the middle four platforms, trains from Hull use the lower platforms and trains from London West use the upper platforms London North and adjacent goods stations. Stoppers to Birmingham start from here, as do expresses to both Birmingham and Sheffield.

Sheffield station. I plan for this to become one of a few northern hubs but currently only the lower terminus platforms are in use. Once the line is extended further north the expresses from London will no longer terminate here but instead use the middle platforms and continue north.
Nottingham station is a fairly typical stopping station currently. The line crosssing from east to west has recently been built and will soon see agricultural traffic heading to a factory near Derby. In future this line will form part of the Peterborough to Stoke line.
Brighton station is planned as a Southern Hub but is currently fairly quiet. Stoppers and expresses to Southhampton use the lower platforms while stoppers and expresses to Birmingham use the upper platforms.
