Oilrig-based land industry (possible or not)?

Post by DerekCZ »

mmkay I just noticed that vanilla Oilrig can be used by 2 companies to exchange cargoes/passangers, and it is even compatible with cargodist (passengers can travel between two companies via oilrig). So, would it be possible to make industry like this on land with embedded road connection that would (like a bank) replace some city buildings? Basicaly it would be like the city decided to build a station to be used by multiple companies. Or maybe even airport like that (with runway, not just heliport). Basicaly like what the "shared infrastructure" patch includes, but very simplified.

So, is something like this possible, or is the game just limited to shared ship/heli station? And if it is, did somebody already make it?

Reading this, it's not possible to have such type of station on land.

in short:
yes, you can make a land-industry have a builtin station
no, it won't look good
no, it cannot have road, it's hardcoded to helicopter/ship

if you want to change any of these answers, you have to find someone who finally after all these years goes ahead and implements new airports. (the dreaded keyword here is "state machines")

I made something similar: trade port in ECS-ext newgrf. It is water-based industry, but I tried to manage with switch to ensure, that it would be placed near shore.
