TT Meet 2017: Birmingham 10th Anniversary Meet - VOTE FOR DATES

Post by orudge »

Next year it'll be 10 years since the first TT-Forums Meet took place in Birmingham. As such, I propose we go back to Birmingham next summer for the 10th Anniversary Meet.

I've posted a poll with three possible dates - basically these are dates that I can do, so hopefully most of you can do at least one of them too! The rough plan would likely be to go to a pub and socialise for a bit on the Saturday, then maybe do something transport-related (will need to look at what there is). For those staying in Birmingham, perhaps we can then continue with some drinks and a meal or an evening out on the Saturday night.

Please vote for any of the dates you can make. The poll will be open for 2 weeks from 3rd January, at which time a date will be picked.

If you have any thoughts, comments or suggestions on this, please post them here. Ideas for things to do also welcome.

I wouldn't mind a Birmingham meet really. It was good seeing you people this year. Flights with Norwegian can take me straight to Birmingham too, so that's not too shabby.

EDIT: OK, not straight to Birmingham. Still, once at the airport in London I might as well continue to Birmingham by air.

After an enjoyable time at this years meet, I will hopefully be at next years! Direct trains from Manchester, so nice and simple to get to.

I may be wrong, but I think you may have an issue with that, as I don't think there are flights from London to Birmingham. Like I say, I could be wrong :)

I shall try to be in attendance. There are trains directly from Wakefield Westgate to Birmingham New Street, in just 1hr 45!
So logistically, nothing stopping me there

If you can fly to Luton there is a bus from the airport every 30 minutes to Milton Keynes where you can direct train to Birmingham pretty cheap. You might even end up with me for company on that.
Or NatEx buses from any London airport will get you to Brum, piece of p***.

Driving? That ain't a mode of TTD transport!

You should be taking the MPS Regal Bus.

I drove to the York meet (but then got a park and ride bus, because driving into the centre of York is a bit daft).

For Brum, it'd be 7 hours each way in the car, a similar amount of time on the train, or an hour on a plane (plus an hour beforehand in the airport then a short train journey to the city centre), and probably for less money, so I expect that'll be my mode of transport for this one!

Pick me up on the way through. I'm within spitting distance of the M1 or be a dick and go via the M40.

Always take the 1 then 6. We'll arrange closer to time but happy to ferry London based forumites for fuel plus wear (12p per mile per pax). Usually works out at about 15 pounds. Small profit for me as I'm offering you a service.

I'd be up for such a meet! I would probably stop overnight to avoid rushing back like I had to from Crewe a few years back sadly.
Shall see closer the time :) Sounds a grand idea to me though!

Let me know if you find somewhere cheap(-ish), as a hotel or something could be quite useful to me too :D

I'll probably be bunking at a Travelodge or something, as I don't want to rush around getting home. I made that mistake at the London one, 6 hours on trains in one day D:
