I hate to spoil the game - I know where this is.

No guesses in 15 days? I guess I should give a clue. This station is on the slower line (of two) between 2 particular places, but was once the quicker of the two.

I'm almost certain that the S+C has never been the fastest route to anywhere  But no, it isn't on there.

It was for a while, it is built to mainline standard, you won't finf=d a gradient steeper than 1 in 100 on it.

Maybe fastest between and Leeds and Glasgow, but that's about it.

The reason it didn't continue as the main route for LMS (post grouping) was the following
its steeper gradients and greater length meant it could not compete on speed from London to Glasgow
(Whist Shap is 1 in 75, it's only 1 in 75 for 5 miles, compared to a 16 mile 1 in 100 on the S+C)

Anyway, that's getting slightly off topic. Any more guesses?

Question, when posting a station, does it have to be open?

That's never really been specified in the rules but the general view after many arguments is yes - the station should be open.
