I'm still going with this game, so thought I ought to post a few more screenshots.

The network is still going strong, however parts of it have seen significant growth in demand, upgrades haven't always been able to keep up.

A few more...

Also, here's a network map, from the network map thread.

This game is still going. Even though town growth is set to the lowest setting above no growth at all, town growth has been giving me persistent capacity problems. I've been adding/updating infrastructure and adding/lengthening trains, and going on a tram-building spree to try to deal with this. The cargo-distribution map still has lots of red on it though.

Screen 18:
A new HS line runs under this town, and a new tram line helps to connect it with the two towns either sides.

Screen 19:
This station has become a major bottleneck, as currently all trains stop there.

Screen 20:
The one point on the network where HS and classic trains share tracks. There wasn't enough room to build separate HS platforms or approach lines.
This town has got a new tram line as well.

Screen 21:
A classic express passes 5 levels above an HS train.

Screen 22:
The HS and classic line share a wide viaduct into the station.

Screen 23:
This station is a major interchange point, and seems to keep gaining platforms, but is still a bit of a bottleneck.

I've started another game since my last set of posts, which is coming along quite nicely.
I'm using a day length of 8, which has kept the cargo levels more manageable and given me more some time to try out the earlier vehicles.

Screen 1:
This steel mill terminal was one of the first industries to be connected, and funded quite a bit of the first few years of growth. At present it's supplied by 5 mines.

Screen 2:
This is one of the busier rail areas on the map, there's a lot of freight passing by, mainly to/from the North, and a frequent passenger service in all directions out of the station.

Screen 3:
Part of a large but less busy freight area, most of the rail traffic is passengers though.

Screen 4:
Probably the busiest bridge on the map, this carries the mainline and a road across the mouth of a large bay. There's a ferry service to an island just to the north as well.

Screen 5:
A freight train passes through a rural station.

Screen 6:
A minimap. I started off along the middle of the south-east edge and have been slowing branching out towards the centre.

Nice shots there :)

Just one question, why are you using that ancient version of the 2cc trainset? I can tell it's 2.0.0 Beta 5, the last version of the old 2cc set to be released. Does it offer anything you want that the new 2ccTrainsInNML doesn't?

I hadn't realised there was a new version to be honest. I don't tend to check the graphics sub-forums.
Now that I've started with the old one I'll stick with it, but I'll have a look at the newer one as and when I start another game.

I've still been playing the same game as in the last few posts, and as it's been a while I thought that I ought to post an update.

Screen 7:
Two trains meet on a line across a narrow strip of land between two lakes.

Screen 8:
A train runs on a rural line which winds the through hilly terrain.

Screen 9:
One of the busier areas of the map (compare with Screen 3)

Screen 10:
This rural station is on a loop just off the mainline, which mainly sees freight and limited-stop services.

Screen 11:
This is a particularly busy area which has been a bit of a bottleneck at times, but things have been running quite smoothly recently.

Screen 12:
Another minimap. The network extends to all corners of the map, but there are still some large areas with little or no service.

I'm still playing the same game from the last set of shots.
Quite a few things have changed since than but there's still plenty left to do.

Screen 13:
Here's a set of crossovers between a freight line and a mostly passenger mainline.
There are a handful of trains which cross here but most pass straight through.

Screen 14:
The station sits slightly outside of the town it serves, at the junction of two lines.

Screen 15:
This area has been a fairly persistent pinch point due to large amounts of slow freight and passenger services passing through.
The uphill slope out of the freight terminal onto the south-bound mainline does not help here either.

Nice style and interesting complexity. :) I wonder about all thought S-bends though; don't they kill train speed? I know single bends don't, but as soon as there's more than one close together, my trains crawl. Or is 69mph fast enough? I'm a bit of a speed freak. :)

What bridge set is that?

Thanks. Ah, it's just alternative graphics for the tubes. Well, I guess that means it probably doesn't conflict with my favourite bridge set, then. :)

Thanks :).
I am willing to sacrifice speed for simplicity, realism or aesthetics from time to time.
Trains don't have to run at maximum speed all the time, at station throats and some junctions trains would often be moving slowly anyway.
I tend to run long freight trains and have set the freight mass multiplier to 3x, so they are also often slow when fully laden, and I need to be careful to avoid routing them up gradients which are too steep.

As for bridges, as said above I'm using the Monkey Bar Bridge GRF, along with the Long Girder, Steel Bridge GRF.

Yeah... I'd do it for those reasons. I usually play with high traffic density, but I have been wanting to play with more realism, lately.
