[WIP] Southern- and Middle part of the Netherlands

Post by Emperor Darth Sidious »

Hello people.

I know that there's a map of the Netherlands here at the forums. It looks great in detail, but it's a little bit to big for me...

So I started to search for a smaller part of the Netherlands, but the only part I found was the region of the "Flevo-polder" on the german website for locomotion...I also asked Greyfox if he could create the map for me, but he wasn't able to do it right...I do however thank him for his efforts

Most people on the forums who know me, also know that I have never created a map for Locomotion, because its simply something that I really can't do that right. For most of my mods I have used other people's maps (mostly Zimmlock's). Since I was never able to find the part of the Netherlands that I really would like to play on, I thought I might give it a try...

Here's the map that I must work on...I don't have a program like photoshop and I don't know how to work with it, so I have to paint the entire map grey with my brush in Paint:

Image
This is a picture that I found of the part of the Netherlands I want for Locomotion, the best one I could find to paint.

Image
I've painted a part of the large picture in grey and made it the right size (384x384) for Mapgen as a test, just to see what would happen if I would let Mapgen do it's work. So it's not done yet...

Image
The result for now...The light-blue parts are the grey parts as shown in the above picture...

Image
This is the part that I didn't worked on yet...In the end this part must be painted grey as well so that the landscape is flat. I also must fine-tune the coastlines and rivers, some of the cities must be placed and in the end I want to release it with my food-mod and as a standalone scenario.

Any advice would be nice as I have never created a real-life map for the game before. So if you are a skilled map-maker and you can help me with the final product, please help me...

I'm not that satisfied with this map as of yet but who knows what I might make of it...What do you people think of it, and the way that I create the map ?

Thnxsss for the advice in advance...

Regards,

Erik

I have sent you another map via private email that just may suit your needs, with an explanation. There shouldn't be any need to paint the map. If you want to adjust land then use the tool in scenario editor. That's the way I do it, including placing water where it needs to be. As I stated in the email, I can do this for you.

Leave it with you.

Regards.
