[Summary]
The scenario includes the Cape Town metropolitan area http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Cape_Town
as well as the West Coast District. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Coast_District_Municipality
The Overberg District is partly included as is a tip of the Northern Cape Province.

Starting date is 1902, the year in which the 2nd Boer War has ended. Now South Africa is united and peace is settled in the Western Cape. The Industrial Revolution brings new ways to grow and manufacture high amounts of food and the West Coast is the breadbasket of South Africa.

[Objective]
- Grow the Cape Town region into the African Metropole it is today.
- Follow old Apartheid infrastructure Planning or create an inclusive transport network.
- Transport the fresh produce of the lands and provide the big cities with foods and alcohol.
- Tourists will want to get around too.

[Background]
- Matroosfontein is the location of Cape Town International Airport and the portal for tourism to the Cape.
- Citrusdal produces Lemons and Oranges which go directly to the stores all over Cape Town.
- Malmesbury has the BoKoMo grainmills which create breadproducts for the whole of South Africa.
- Most of Stellenbosch, Franshoek, Paarl, Vredendal en Robertson fruit is used to create the world's best Wine.
- Darling is most famous for it's high quality of Milks and Cheeses.
- Fishhoek and Houtbay both have very popular fishmarkets, but the most famous one is the Cape Town Fishmarket.

- South Africans like to eat good food, especially Cape Town must be supplied by a wide variety of foods.

[Extra]
- Copper / Iron in Saldanha Bay
- A thriving Wood industry to the east of Cape Town
- Oil in the Atlantic Ocean
- Manufacturing industries of the food industry

[newGRFs]
industrie:
- FIRS general economy, preferably Heart of Darkness (Cape has: copper, diamonds, wood, wheat, fruit, cattle, fish, oil, sand, tourism)

[Personal Background]
Because of my interest in South Africa and in particular the Western Cape and it's history, but also because OTTD is one of my favorite games, I decided to work on a scenario where one gets to build the infrastructure and industrial network of Cape Town and the Western Cape.

After creating the first heightmap I decided a scenario of the West Coast would be a nice first step in the project. Since the rectangular map allows for the inclusion of some great landscape transition while also excluding a large part of the (mostly touristic) Garden Route, which lies more along the South Coast and would include cities such as George and maybe Port Elizabeth.

This could be done with a 2048 x 2048 map, but that would require a considerable amount of extra work, atleast to obtain a certain personally satisfying level of detail.

On the heightmap: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=27052&p=1101100#p1101100

[Scenario History]

The Cape Winelands
- Wine Farms: Le Roux, Spier, Robertson, ...
- Brandy: Wellington, Klipdrif (Robertson)

Wheat Industry of Swartland
-
- BoKoMo Wheatmills, farmers unite and create mills

Tourism Hotspots
-
-

Town Descriptions:
Cape Town Metropole: Capital of the Western Cape
includes: Bellville, Somerset Wes,

Swartland District
Capital: Malmesbury
Also: Moorreesburg, Darling, Yzerfontein

etc. etc.

Looks very promising indeed! Maybe you could make versions with different industry sets because I think not everyone (including myself) wants to play with FIRS.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

I think a version without FIRS would be a nice alternative but then that scenario would include a lot less detail as well since it is a crazy amount of work to make multiple version.

Question: a light version without FIRS, any preferences for trainsets? Or basic?

P.S.
There is now a Screenshot topic which shows the progress on the scenario.

Maybe one version with no industry at all? So players can make their own versions for private use?

Looks good so far. I think I'll give this a play through once you're done.
