Hello,
I am trying to copy my PMs to my machine, but having a little trouble with the attachments.
There seem to be three options:
1. View a message, and copy/paste each message separately into an editor.
The normal view doesn't really work, as information about what exactly is quoted, and complete URLs is missing.
I guess I can hit 'reply', and then copy/paste the editor contents instead.
Attachments are shown, but have to be downloaded manually too.
While it would work, it is a lot of work for 17 pages of PMs.
2 Export as CSV. Text seems preserved as do URLs, but no attachments, it seems, and neither do I understand how it stores the information.
3 Export as XML. Like the export as CSV, text and urls are kept, but no attachments. Format looks more useful to me, I'd be happy if I could recover which messages have attachments, and the attachments themselves too.
The bad thing about 2 and 3 is not so much the lack of attachments, but also lack of mentioning them, other than in the text was written about files.
Am I missing something?
Are there other ways to do this that do not take several days and involve manually digging up each menssage separately?
Albert

I'm not aware of any such feature, but maybe some other users here are. I could probably write a script to create a zip file of all your attachments, but when I would be able to do that is another matter!Alberth wrote:Are there other ways to do this that do not take several days and involve manually digging up each menssage separately?

Something like DownThemAll in Firefox? Would something like that work?
Re: Archive PMs including attachments
No idea, don't know that extension.
I opted for making a directory for each message, with the date as its name.
Roughly:
1. Open a message (not the newest one, since you'll move forward in time).
2. copy/paste the time+date to make a directory with that name
3. "save page" for saving the message in the new directory, sort on reverse modification time so new directories end up at the top
4. Scan the message for images and attachments, and use "save as" to save them in the same directory.
5. Hit "next PM" at the top to go to the next message.
6. continue at 2.
After saving a number of messages, go back to the list, mark the ones you saved, and delete them.
