And carrying on.

How everything is powered

The basic idea for the warehouse power is that there are various 'outlets' situated in the warehouse. Power is fed into the main MFSU, and then into a row of transformers. From there, the power splits up towards various batboxs and MFEs. Everything charges, but nothing has been tested yet.

Generator room - lava is fed into here for the geothermal generator. There's a row of back-up generators just encase I need to boost the power levels.

Power is fed from the generators into an MFSU, then into a HV transformer. From there, one cable goes up for a HV outlet, and one goes into the MV transformer. There again, one cable goes up for an MV outlet, and the other into the LV transformer which, as you can guess, then has a LV outlet cable coming out of it.

Each level is separated by 3-blocks. The ceiling level, the cabling level, and the flooring level. This is just under the ground level and you can see all the cabling going a tad manic all over the place. All works though and all colour coded... just encase things get mixed up.

And some more.

Science lab for creating UU-matter. Only wanted it for quantum armour really. The solar panels also help power the MFSU when needed. But to prevent an over-load, I've disconnected it.

The main gate for the compound is power by redpower frame motors. The reinforced doors simply slide apart at the press of a button and close at the press of another. I was only playing around building that really. Pretty fun little thing to make.

Just behind my cottage is a drilling platform I used to pump lava out of a volcano. Turns out though, the volcano was just a small funnel of lava so I had to go elsewhere to find some. I did find quite a supply of the stuff too ;)

So, what's inside the house? Not much at all. Two levels, a chest, and a bed. I still haven't got round to doing the inside of the house yet.
Under it though... that's a whole different story.

The first basement level is where all my storage is. It started off as storage and crafting and I had intended to move to the production warehouse later. Never did though. Was easier to build from my house. The basement got more and more busy with chests, machines, furnaces etc.
This is how it looks so far. The reason for so many project tables is that each one holds the crafting recipe for something I use a lot, like copper cables, electronic circuits, etc. So all I need to do is chuck the materials i and take out the crafted item. A lot faster than fiddling around placing things in the right slot.
There's also a corridor that runs out to my energy condenser behind the house which is crating red matter.

Under that is where I get all my resources. Alchemy is the main path I follow. No quarries or things like that. I create my stuff from energy itself.
On this level I have a catch of energy condensers which are each creating something different. Various ingots, diamond, rare items, different types of wood, redstone, glowstone, and dark matter (red matter is crated on level 1). In tekkit terms, I'm bloody rich!

Last batch - my oil/lava rig.

As I mentioned earlier, I managed to find a massive pool of lava underwater. I decided to build a rig to pump it up and also pump up a nearby oil spring too.
Whilst mapping out the area for the rig, Sjin from Yogscast released Sjindustry and started building an oilrig. Good timing ay?
I took his design of the columns as influence for my own to see how they look. And my goodness, they do look brilliant! Take up a hell of a lot of resources though. No creative for me. I've made everything myself.

The rig is split into two platforms. The bottom platform houses all the pump stations, the oil refinery, and the storage tanks.
The top facility houses the Generator building, a couple of pump stations, and my living quarters. I also tried building a tower on the rig to make it more life-like but I'm not entirely happy with it so it may be knocked down and replaced at some point.

I have 4 storage sections on the rig. The first row is for Lava, which can be pumped back to my main compound to fill up the pump station there. The second row is also for lava, but this one is for powering the rig's geothermal generator. The third is for oil which is pumped into a refinery sections, and finally the 4th is for fuel from the refinery.
Not really sure what I'm going to use the fuel for yet. Just seemed an interesting thing to make since I could.

And that's all on my game at the moment. Not sure what to do though at the moment. I want a new project but no idea what to build. Suggestions/ideas welcome!

Had a question about how to power some machines with the HV Solar arrays, and an MFSU.
Here's my set up: HV SA 1.--------------------------->MFSU 2. --------------------------->HVT 3. --------------------------->MVT 4.--------------------------->LVT 5. --------------------------->Machines
1. Glass Fibre Cables 2. Glass Fibre Cables 3. Glass Fibre Cables 4. 2X Insulated Gold Cables 5. Copper Cables

If you have glass fibre cables available to you, avoid using anything else. Copper cables especially.
Glass fibre can carry current over a much longer distance with very little drop.
Copper cables will lose 1EU every 3-5 blocks. Gold cable will lose 1EU every 2-3 blocks. However, Glass fibre will lose 1EU every 40 blocks, and can carry much higher currents of course.

Though I am wondering, are your transformers the right way round? On energy stores (batbox/MFE/MFSU) there are 5 inputs and one output. On transformers, there is only 1 input and 5 outputs :P

Have been constructing a bunker now with three password-locked doors (all using redpower), an elevator, and a hell of a lot of redpower gates/wires.

So, i have designed for a friend a "teleporter-0-matic". in other words; you push a button, and the orrect teleporter will be moved to the player, and will automaticly reset to his "standby" mode;

Its created in survivalmode, and because we are very far in tech, we had plenty enough of resources.

My friend, suplied me the resources i needed, and i just created the beast.

Funny enough my server's installed the FtB modpack the other day. I've been playing a bit but I can't make much sense of it so far. Of course, we don't play the challenging floating-block-like versus mode but the old-fashioned, suddenly-there's-a-gazillion-ore-types way. But it's pretty interesting so far.

No, PLUS+2.42 it is called. Add .rar to the name to find it by filename and more info about it. I do not remember exactly from what site I got it ... it has 108 mods of which 107 seem to be active and untill now it has not crashed on me.
Actually I just wanted industrial craft, logistics pipes, redstone 2 and computercraft but this will do too me thinks.

I do not even know what kind of explosives caused this hole ... I started with a nuclear explosion in a tiny hole which burnt its way down but as it did not stop burning after two minutes or so I chucked in some more, other type, explosives; some of them producing all kind of pretty colours. A little whille after all noise and explosions had stopped already something started making a terrible squeek, a sound between an elevator motor starting up and a runaway jet engine but way more intens ... I was still in there and it scared the doodoo out of me.

Re: Minecraft

I started playing Minecraft last year and built a huge cobblestone castle on top of a mountain. Of course, NOW I realised my folly in how difficult I had made life for myself with not only traversing up and down the height of the mountain but also the fact I didn't have what I needed to survive.

My second attempt has faired much much better, with a brand new world and this time I built my large castle out of stone brick on a relatively high hill which after much landscaping became a medium hill. This castle includes a village, animal farm, crop farm, tree orchard(currently being relocated) A large castle which serves as my home, a second keep which serves as a barracks and includes the main gatehouse and an underground rail station(ish)

I've built two rail line which both start in the dungeon of the main castle. One goes 0.230km(230 blocks) to the east to a large mine complex and the other goes 1.800km to a village in a desert biodome (the only village I've found so far)

Everything you see below has been created in Survival mode. However, I used Creative mode to get the arial shots and to spawn 2x villages to start populating my village. Other than that, ALL Survival mode.

Not shown in the pictures is that the village has increased in size a lot and includes a lot of two storey buildings to make use of the (Doors x 0.35 = Qty of villages) equation. 1st Floors cannot be accessed by villages but still get used in the equation. Also not shown is the Nether realm portal I recently built yesterday.

((Won't post all the pics as there's a lot!))

That looks fantastic. I like the idea of villages inside your own walls.

Many thanks, took a good long while to get all the stone brick required to build the walls and didn't want to do it out of cobblestone like the last castle I did.

If I recall correctly, most English castles had the villages outside the castle walls. Even knowing this I wanted to keep the village within my walls to better protect them against mobs. There is a code in the game that if you are within 150 blocks of a village the village will be attacked by Zombie mobs who will actually zombify the villagers they kill.

So I keep them within the walls where the light stops them spawning in the village itself so they appear safely contained outside the walls. I built two iron golems just in case, to help protect the village if they do manage to spawn inside.

The castle walls are all 2 blocks thick with 3 blocks of height. Sentry towers are on each corner more for looks than a practical reason and I have 2 piston door entrances and a gatehouse to access the castle. I even have a secret underwater channel to sneak into the castle dungeon too. Just in case.

Although I've been very busy around Highwind Castle it's mostly been doing tweeks and gathering resources.

However, this week I have managed to do some renovations and complete some projects.

Well first up is the renovations to the inner wall that protects and connects my Barracks to the main castle on top of the hill. I've squared it off more and added supports to generally make it look more of a natural build.

Image

Image

Image

With the new added space I've added some brick flooring, one side has two small huts that I might use as a makeshift prison, I'm not sure yet. The other side is blank, possible to stable horses at some point or something. Maybe not considering the main gate is on ground level.

Image

Here's the new and improved village with more housing and also a Nether portal. I removed a couple of houses near the castle as those villagers were doing my swede in, constantly opening and closing the fething doors!!!!!

I also tried a new style of build compared to the originals. Not sure which I like more. You'll notice that I've used some Nether blocks around the portal. I was trying to go for a tainted look, as if the Nether World had tainted the land slightly in the Overworld where the portal stands. I think it looks quite good, but the compressed space its in doesn't show it off well.

Image

Image

Arial view (obviously) to show off the new proportions of the Castle. Still got a few outposts on the outer wall to complete though.

Image

This is the view from the ground floor of my main castle, looking down into the basement which is accessible by climbing a ladder to prevent monsters getting up, or by putting down the hole which almost kills me and will kill if I go any deeper. You can also make out a platform part way down which my track runs from to get to my Sand village 2km away or to a underground mine.

Image

And lastly my gatehouse. I made a hash by putting it on this side due to the height of the ground level compared to the height on the other side of the river. So opted for a side entrance linking back to the land. It's not normal but castle did do this on occasion. If you look at the bottom you can just about make out a underwater tunnel running under the gatehouse. This tunnell links up to the gatehouse by use of a secret entrance and also runs all the way into the basement. I can now use it as a water ladder inside the basement while maintaining some level of realism ... ish.

For the wooden portcullis which is kept closed to keep monsters out I've put in two fence gates to allow access. Will lower the other portcullis and add them to that two in order to maintain security.

Not shown in the picture but slightly visible in the second picture is a tunnel leading into the hill straight out from the gatehouse/Barracks which leads into the ground level of the main castle. This is so i don't have to keep climbing up then down, up then down when travelling between the two.

Image

More to come soon I hope
