New station configuration

Post by Zimmlock »

I have developed a new station configuration, the idea is reduce the "empty" time of a single track station.
At production Industry i allways build 2 single track loading stations with a waiting yard infront of it, mostly 34 tile long, the platform 30 tile long, i place a signal behind the last platform tile, so the train being loaded is 32 tile long keeps the station "closed", when it departs it gives the station free as soon as the last car passes that signal and the next train from the waiting yard starts to advance towards the station. But it has to wait infront for that signal untill the departing train has totaly exited the station and passed the signal at the exit.
In some cases this takes, to my opinion, to much time at a high out put industry.
To improve the preformance, i now build a 2 track station that works like a 1 track, the signal (arrow at screenshot 1) keeps the station closed for other trains to enter, but at soon as the loaded train departs and gives the station free the next train from the waiting yard can enter the empty station track while the departing train is still exiting his station track, resulting in a shorter "empty" time of the station and improving preformance, at the example i was able to add 2 additional trains, the example shows a short station to have it captured nicely, but even here it works outstanding.

May the force be with you.
For little boys, three things reign as supreme attention-keepers: tanks, heavy construction equipment, and trains, we all know why where here.

LJS locked them so locotool can't read them. It's been like that for awhile. It's of the reasons I don't use his stuff that much.
