Do you really think it could help with choosing a loco?Give an example.

All your steamers already give that information away.

Michael, what is the right term "Locomotive plant" or "Locomotive works"?

Both should work. You could also use "locomotive factory".

Ask google what is used most ..

I'm having a major problem with this train set in Vanilla OpenTTD v1.3.1 and that Russian Spring Patch Pack thing as well.

I have two version of this set, v1.0r1000 (alpha) and v1.0.858 (alpha) and both crash OpenTTD no matter what parameters I use, I tried turning off the rail types that come with the set but the game still crashes.
The game crashes when ever I try to start or load a game with the xUSSR train set loaded, doesnt matter how I start a new game, be it generate new map or load a height map, or what climate I choose, the game still crashes no matter what I do.

This is the first train set or grf that has crashed on me in a LONG time, probably last one was in the OpenTTD 0.6.X era

I'm running OpenTTD x64 on Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate x64. If any more details are needed I can provide them.

Does it happen with R1078?

Does it happen on a newly generated random map if the xUSSR set is the only GRF loaded?

Than it (also?) an OpenTTD bug, is it already reported?

I suppose it should be reported as OTTD bug

So it turns out that though I had the English_US lang file, xUSSR set didn't like that I renamed it so I could have different binaries in the same folder (Eng_US_132 for v1.3.2, Eng_US_Nightly for what ever nightly I have)

ANYWAYS, now that I have the set working, I'd like to make a suggestion.

Considering Russia uses Broad gauge rails, the railway graphics in the set look a little too narrow for Russian railstock, especially since the trains and wagons are drawn at a slightly larger scale then other sets.

It would be nice if for once a set that has trains from a broad gauge country had broad gauge graphics (perhaps a pixle or two wider then the default OpenTTD rails)

Other then that, I really like how this set has so many things to play with, and I like the icons :)

EDIT : Oh yeah, I'd also like to suggest some earlier starting vehicles. Even starting the game in 1920 I only have two locomotives, a box car, a refridgerated wagon, and a single passenger car.

broad gauge rails are visually not much wider than standard gauge rail (just short of 10cm, which is not even close to a full pixel in TTD scale). also, the original rails are way too wide compared to the vehicles

Still, the track graphics look more like narrow gauge like this, just like the UK finescale track grf.

I once made a proposal for inter-set track gauge "unification":

- use original TTD gauge (9px) for broad gauge,
- use 7px for standard gauge,
- use 5px for (all types of) narrow-gauge,
- use 3px for "Feldbahn/Decauville"

So will the set ever have proper running costs? 192 dollars for a steamer is rather low. Not only that but everything in the same class (diesel, steam, electric, etc) all have the same running costs. This kills it for me as I prefer a challenge.
