Having a whale of a time procuring a copy

Post by Zhall » 04 Oct 2013 03:52

The notion that TT2013 is available for android is pretty weak, considering my Galaxy S3 and S4 cannot download it.

Is there any way to purchase this game other than the play store? Or somehow trick the playstore into thinking you have a tablet?

Sorry, the Play Store is (understandably) quite locked down with regards to such things. If you can't get it from the store in Genymotion then I'm afraid you'll just have to wait for 31X to get the Android phone version into the store, which hopefully won't take long. Don't forget, it's a lot more work to design for the massive variety of Android devices than it is for iOS!

Finally got a copy, don't care much for it tho, perhaps ill try recording somehow, I duno, quite a let down really to lag so @#@#ing hard.

O well support the indies right?

Edit: I was able to download it with Genymotion after I bought it on the play store, but it wont download the 100mb data package.

APK extractor says the TransportTycoon APK is 11.6MB, while from the application manager via settings it is...

Total --- 188MB
App --- 24MB
USB storage app -- 123MB
Data --- 40MB (that's the size of one save?)
SD card --- 864 KB

Yet from Genymotion it reads as...

Total --- 24.13MB
App --- 24.12MB
USB storage app -- 0MB
Data --- 4KB
SD card --- 0 KB

Is my emulated device just missing an SD card or something?

And yes you can register emulated devices as a device you own on the play store.

Edit 2:

Genymotion checking directly after install..

Total --- 147MB
App --- 24.12MB
USB storage app -- 123MB
Data --- 4KB
SD card --- 0 KB

For some reason uninstalling it and reinstalling it made it download the entire game..

Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1: When I try to run the game it tries to load then crashes promptly.
Galaxy S4 HTC One Xperia Z - 4.2.2 - Goes to gray screen.

Im so close to being able to spam the forums with.. I mean record TT2013! :D

When I try and play it in Genymotion, it force closes. The app itself is quite small, but the additional data file is what contains all the graphics and, well, the content - that downloads separately and gets stored somewhere else.

Doubt it I've been in a similar situation since 3 October.

I've just come up with a theory. Could it be that using Gennymotion the additional data is stored in the wrong place and therefore the APK can't find it?

The reason it isn't working properly is almost certainly due to the graphics subsystem. If I turn on 3D acceleration manually in VirtualBox and boot it from there, I get to the 31X screen before it crashes, but as far as I know there are no VBox-accelerated drivers for Android.

Haha. I think that you might as well ask a question: "has anyone made any progress making TTM" ?
