@frosch: Thank you for the fix.
@Alberth: Thank you for the information.
I'll check again in the morning then.

Today GRFCodec 6.0.2 was released. This is a minor maintenance release with NFORenum validation data updates and the revert of an optimisation that was valid according to the GRF specifications. However, the specifications were incorrect.

I don't think this affects the file but I thought i should ask just in case.

Today GRFCodec 6.0.3 was released. This is a minor maintenance release with NFORenum validation data updates and a few minor fixes to GRFCodec decoding of container v2 included sprites and reading of interlaced PNG files.

GrfCodec: Are win32-compiled binaries of grfdiff and grfmerge available for download anywhere?

- I wiped the old versions off - I assumed they were in the 6.0.3 win32 binaries archive by default.
- I gave up compiling them.

Thanks

I just redownloaded to check, and they are. Are you downloading from http://www.openttd.org/en/download-grfcodec/6.0.3 ?

I see .. I got it from http://www.openttd.org/en/download-grfcodec (without the 6.0.3) saying

"Latest release in grfcodec is 6.0.4, released on 2013-07-15 19:04 UTC."

The filename is grfcodec-6.0.4-windows-win32.zip, filesize is 1.320.128, md5 does match. I found this release thread here and assumed the current version would be 6.0.3, but, in fact, it appears to be 6.0.4, the two programs missing.

The statement for 6.0.3:

"This is an archived release of grfcodec 6.0.3, released on 2013-07-15 19:11 UTC."

however, its release date is 7 minutes later and 200k more. Concurrent releases?

thanks

The release info there seems wrong. grfcodec 6.0.4 is much newer, it's released 31 March 2014.

If you want a working grfdiff and grfmerge you have to use a way older version of grfcodec (<= version 5 or something). I recently deleted those tools from the repository, since they were broken for like 3 (?) years, and there has been no usecase for them for 11 years. (which makes me wonder why you would want to use them)

Maintenance of a personal NewGrf - modify some sprites in ttr1g (multiple versions for railtypes) and openttd, then extract the modified sprites. I decided now to automatize it. So I thought I need grfdiff.

Are 6.0.3 grfdiff and grfmerge functional?

I suspect it would be less trouble to turn it into a proper newgrf...

It probably would also greatly reduce the required maintenance work. Also you might want to learn about static NewGRFs (sorry no better URL).

Guys, the 'properness' of my grf is not the question, as long as it is a valid grf accepted by the latest revisions of the tools, the .nforenum linter included. The other thing is a question of my workflow which is nothing you have to care about.

The question is that grfdiff and grfmerge vanished silently, someone thinks it was a release 5.x, but in 6.0.3 they are still there, can I use these, or do they have an undetermined status?

Regards

Seems to work fine at my 64 bit Linux system. It needs about 1.1GB to run, it seems.

Edit: Please note the license of that NewGRF, you are not allowed to change it without permission.
