Funny Cars

"Funny Cars" is a small set of eyecandy vehicles intended for fun rather than serious gameplay. These vehicles were originally created by members of the German Transport Tycoon forum back in 2005 and eventually released in 2007. You can find the original release topic on this forum here, and on the German forum here. This updated version makes a few minor changes but remains true to the original.

There are five vehicles in this set:

Universelles Taxi 1 and 2 are available from around 1920 to 1970. Modernes Taxi, Pizzabote and F1 Jordan are available from 1970 onwards.

All vehicles have zero running costs and are available in all climates. All vehicles except the F1 Jordan carry a minimal amount of cargo and have appropriate refit options.

For best results, set road vehicle acceleration model to "Realistic" in the settings menu.

Compatibility

You can use this GRF with both StreetTraffic or TownCars AIs. Only the F1 Jordan has been given a (minimal) purchase cost, so configure the AI to only build zero price RVs.

This GRF is not compatible with TTDPatch.

Credits and licence

Taxi graphics are by Ignus; Pizzabote and F1 Jordan graphics are by AnD.

All coding for this GRF was done by me (PaulC). The orginal Funny Cars GRFs were coded in nfo by Bernhard, aka BeSt-Com.

As per the original version, this GRF is released under a PUBLIC DOMAIN licence. Do what you want with it, but please consider giving credit to the original artists.

Download

Latest version is v1.0 which you can find here. Also available on Bananas (in-game content download).

A suggestion ... After a bit of play testing, I found that the F1 Jordan significantly underperformed what one would expect from a race car.
Could you improve the acceleration and the handling on hills and in corners?

What's your acceleration model? The F1 cars don't perform well if set to "original", IIRC that was an issue with the original grf as well.

My bad. I forgot about that  I had it set to original. I'll try realistic for a bit and see how that looks.
Thanks for the reminder.

EDIT:Yep! That was it. I must remember to include "Check acceleration model = realistic" in the new Le Circuit instruction sheet. 8)

Side view (E or W) for at least the F1 car seems to be the wrong angle? It should still be looking down at the vehicle, so there should be some width to it.
