[OpenTTD] RUKTS (Representitive UK Trainset)

Post by Gwyd »

So, Starraid (FulliAutomatix) and I bring you: RUKTS
A UK train set in 2cc designed for playability rather than realism with a variety of features including...
2cc (or not, through a parameter)
Selectable liveries (or not, through a parameter)
Variable length EMUs and DMUs
A pacer
Functioning driving trailers
Other things

So far this contains 42 rail vehicles: Swind Type 1 (Diesel), EE Type 3 (Diesel Electric), EE Whistler (Diesel Electric), Sulzer Type 4 (Diesel Electric), GE Powerhaul (Diesel Electric), Stadler UK Light (Diesel Electric), Leyland "Pacer" (Diesel), BR Southern DEMU "Thumper", (Diesel Electric), BREL HST (Diesel Electric), Bombardier Voyager (Diesel Electric), BREL 87 (Electric), Brush/ABB "92" (Dual Voltage), Stadler Euro Dual (Electro Diesel), BR Compartment EMU (3rd rail), BREL Second Generation EMU (Electric & Dual Voltage), BREL Suburban EMU (3rd Rail), BR Mark 1 EMU (3rd Rail), BREL Thameslink Classic (Dual Voltage), BREL "Wessex Express" (3rd Rail), Metro-Cammel "Networker" (Dual Voltage), Bombardier "Electrostar" (Dual Voltage), Siemens "Desiro (3rd Rail & Dual Voltage), Siemens "Desiro City" (Dual Voltage), BREL Eastern Region Suburban EMU, BR Bulk Goods Wagon, Nuclear Flask Wagon, Intermodal Container Wagon, Mark 1 Carriage, BREL Mark 2 Carriage, BREL Mark 2 Driving Coach, BREL Mark 3, BREL Driving Van Trailer, Modern MU Car. Narrow Gauge vehicles: Double Fairlie 0-4-0 + 0-4-0 (Steam), Beyer-Garratt 2-4-2 + 2-4-2 (Steam), Ashbury Carriage, Bristol Carriage, Slate Wagon, Plank Bulk Wagon. This is set to increase in the future. If there are any bugs that you notice, please tell us as soon as possible.
In terms of cargo compatibility, this set is in an early stage so only has passenger cars, mail cars and 6 wagons so far. This is set to change, thanks to ATN, who's directed us to some GPL wagons.

Also available is "RUKTS - Extension" GRF which will contain additional graphics to go with the main GRF that aren't UK rail vehicles.
Currently available in the extension GRF:
Nuclear cargo chain - Uranium Mine -> (Uranium) -> Power Station -> (Nuclear Waste) -> Nuclear Reprocessing Site.

Looks like a nice little set for passengers. Now we can get own back on awkward local authorities by putting Pacers on.

325 for mail as well though :P

We also got freight on the way...
I mean, what purpose would a train only in "Freightliner" or "Colas Railfreight" be? :D

Pedantry incoming: It's actually "Siemens", not "Seimens".

Pedantry quite welcome. Networker is also going to become Metro-Cammel instead of ABB or Adtranz.

Hi

This looks fantastic, thank you so much for producing.

Any chance that a Class 317 EMU could be added to the future plans for this set? In this and other historically realistic UK sets, there is a lack of a fast overhead electrification/AC EMU before the 1990s. The 317 was introduced in the early 1980s and has 100mph capability, and so it would be good to have a fast EMU available in that era for the game.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_317

Ideally, one of the 90mph EMUs from the 1960s/1970s would be nice too.

For example:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_309

Sorry, I am hopeless at both coding and drawing, but I can help by testing!

Cheers

Olly.

Funny you should mention those EMUs...
We've got a 319 near enough ready for coding, a 321 on its way and a half finished 309! Hopefully these should all come in the next update. The 455 was created with the 317 in mind, so that wouldn't be too hard either.

I did see that in the documentation somewhere. What does it do exactly?
