It's hard to say how many people are still playing TTDPatch, if any, but all the original parts of the Japan Set are still compatible with it. Here are WINDOWS and DOS files for TTDPatch, all of them *untested*, as I do not currently have a working installation. But anyone who is willing to give this a try is welcome to give me some feedback.

These files will also work with OpenTTD, but there is no point in downloading these archives instead of the ones in the first post.

Thanks a heap for posting the updated version! I had an older version with out of date trains, and the updated track types should be fun to play with :D

One question I have though, is regarding the bridges. Post 1950, they have a standard road surface in bitumen across the top. Pre-1950 they have a slate/cobble pattern. But when a pre-1950 game crosses the 1950 threshold, it still only builds the slate bridges instead of the bitumen road bridges.

Is this intentional? And is there any function for the bridges to be updated over time?

Cheers again!

Dan.

[Edit] I suppose I should mention I'm not using the Japan Landscape set, because the colours don't do it for me. If the road set was available separately, I'd use it though.

OpenTTD doesn't have the ability to change the graphics over automatically. You need to save your game and reload it past the daate you set for it to switch over.

I didn't set anything (deliberately), I just noticed that's what it was doing. I tested it with the auto-save and it worked exactly as you said, cheers!

Hey dude I downloaded this NewGRF and the passenger cars were not there. I thought that maybe when you buy the train the cars come with but it didn't. And I also thought that when you send off the train to its station, the cars would showup. But then again, the railcars show up when it's coupled to the train. and it didn't show. only shows the the trains to buy in game. I cannot buy passenger cars. :?: ?( Am I supposed to download a second pack? I know there's for maglev.

Can you post the save file of the game where you're seeing the problem?

Hello Dandan and StevenH

first of all, thank you for that amazing japan set (thanks also to all the other people that were involved in it)

i ve spotted a few bug i think:

- trees : when planting random trees they seems to not be snow aware (even if built where there is already snow), if i plant a single type of trees then no problem they are snow aware. Then when the game automatically plant trees it seems to do both !
here a screenshot of a game where we encounter that problem :
Nagoya Corp., 11_02_2033.png
lower part was hand planted, upper part was automatically planted (except the few tiles that are snow aware)
(875.25 KiB) Not downloaded yet
-station building : we love the modular buildings, but sometimes it gives weird combination, example :
Nagoya Corp., 05_04_2033.png
(130.4 KiB) Not downloaded yet
-trains : the emu 40 series, seems to be overpowered compared to the other emus of that period, don t know if that s intended
Nagoya Corp., 19_04_2033.png
(111.15 KiB) Not downloaded yet
can t remember if i spotted something else wrong at the moment so will stop here with bug report ;)

Now i ve got some suggestion if you are willing to do further development:
- add a fence at the end of the regular platforms, the same as the 1/2 platform tile, would be cool to have;
-have a buffer tile that can draw a buffer on each side of the tile : something like this but using only one tile as double buffer ----][-----
-more option for townsize threshold (is a custom option possible ? )

And to finish, i m regularly in contact with Davo (more know around here as Doorslammer), and he s dying to see the sprites he drawed to be included, any chance that you would work on an update that would add them ? ( they are posted on that thread viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5358&start=4440)

Thank you for reading

As a workaround, you can play with OpenGFX+ Industries. With it, Japanese houses accept Food.

Thanks for digging. This reminds me that there's a m4nfo implementation of the original Japanese Stations set, including a lot of bug fixes. Its source files will be released (probably on devzone?) for more easy mainenance and future enhancements.

I might look into doing this, I am currently maintaining a modified version of JPSet buildings to tweak some zoning issues I had with it. It's currently unreleased but if there's enough demand I might put it on Bananas.

I don't know if I want to go so-far as officially picking up the mantle of JPBuildings maintainer again, I handed that over way back when because I didn't have the time and I now have even less time and even more projects on the go... 🙃

Please do - I love the JPSet, it's by far the best buildings set.

Thanks for your work!
