Dutch Trainset 2
Dutch Trains for OpenTTD. It all starts with Arend in 1839 and continues to the V250 Albatross and beyond. The set gives you the steam engines, diesel and electric engines, diesel and electric multiple units and metros that once were or still are common in the Netherlands. With many liveries to choose from.

The Dutch Trainset 2 is a full replacement for the original Dutch Trainset we all know and love. It continues where the old set stops: more trains, more liveries, more options to fully customize how your train network looks. And this time we included Dutch metro vehicles as well.

Downloads are available via OpenTTD's ingame Online Content service and via the DevZone if you prefer a manual installation. Please check the readme for details such as what game version you need and the recommended starting year for new games.

If you find any bugs, please report them here or directly to our issue tracker. For additional reading, visit the set's homepage or the development topic.

Sneaky ninja-release. Didn't expect a release so soon. Good work :)

I updated the wiki too, I ninja'd your pictures for the wiki page :)

I believe I had it announced in the dev thread multiple times ;)

I guess the wiki is due for a complete update now, with more detailed instructions on how the set works with refitting and such. An extended version of what I've written in the readme so to say. I may dive in to this later this week; I'm taking a short break of coding anyways (unless there is a serious bug).

There should be one on the online content. But that of course does not have this newgrf configured, so adding it will be at your own risk.

Can't you change newgrf settings safely by editing the scenario in the editor, and then play it with the same newgrf configuration as you saved it in the editor?

As a side note, I made a 2048x2048 OpenTTD map of the Netherlands, see sig, but I believe several people made some adjustments on that one, so there's several maps floating around the net. :P

No, that is also unsafe. Scenarios are nothing else than savegames with a different file extension.

Adding a train set in the scenario editor when there's no vehicles around yet is rather safe compared to for example changing the industry set in a running game.

On topic: The set is fantastic

Well done guys, this is looking like a really nice set! :D One minor suggestion: I tend to favour those sets like UKRS or the Japan Set which tell you whether an engine is best suited to passengers or freight - is there any possibility of adding such notes to the Dutch Trainset?

Something like that is planned for the next release :D
Especially useful for those who are not familiar with Dutch trains but still want to play the set, like yourself probably!

Can only agree. A helpful hint for people that do not know as much about trains as you would be much appreciated. Not that it would be important for gameplay but it helps to add realism to a game and is a nice way of learning something new besides playing.

Will be glad to use the long upcoming weekend to try those trains out.

Check this out for information about what engine belongs to which carriage : http://www.arthurstreinenpagina.nl/

It is in dutch, but it's mostly graphics, so a bit of clicking will get you an idea about that site.

Owow, this just looks brilliant, but I'm afraid it isn't compatible with the Chillcore patchpack? (which is r22555 i guess)

Well, V1 was good too, but it looks like just the right improvements have been made to make it much better

2.0.0-alpha2 released!

The second alpha of Dutch Trainset 2 is now available! Download locations as usual: the online content and the DevZone.

This release fixes some bugs found in the first alpha and adds some new features as well. The changelog is quoted below.

Due to the nature of the fixes, this release isn't technically compatible with the previous one, but I didn't specifically disallow it. I recommend not to upgrade existing games with it, but if you want to give it a try you can reduce the chance of savegame corruption by selling all your Mat40 ELD5 before upgrading.

OpenTTD requirements are still 1.2.0-RC1 or nightly r23971, or higher.

It's not just me making this set. Let's not forget the artists and those who helped template the graphics from the v1! I haven't drawn much myself ;)

Well done guys, I'm having a great time wit it, especially now you can assign a livery to a train.

I'm only running into a minor issue which probably one of you can tell me how to solve it. If I buy a ICM for example... How do I get two or three sets on a train? Currently when I buy the ICM4 and add three ICR coaches it doesn't look that good, while that trick worked on the V1 set.
