Not a bug report, but in your signature it still says that HEQ's v1.0.0 is released when we're already at v1.2.0

Not that I'm pushing, I love the set, it looks awesome in the game. But, any chance of there being more added or even better, earlier ones?

I've discovered in my early 20th century Russian games that the Industrial Trams are incredibly handy vehicles- a nice medium between trucks and trains, with their high capacities and small space requirements, they're perfect for short-range high-capacity cargo routes, and I even use them to fill in for road vehicles in earlier years where lorries aren't really worth a damn. It's a shame that the last design is from the 50s- it'd be nice to continue this development niche.

Here's an example of a modern cargo tram, fittingly named. It seems to be unique but I'm assuming that's never stopped you. Google searching has come up with some interesting results for modern cargo trams used for various purposes- they're rather rare, but as in-game they're being proposed again for some particular niche uses. Most of the advantages and disadvantages in real-life are mirrored in-game, mainly cost and efficiency versus having to lay specialised tracks for non-passenger routes.

There are also still producers of industrial narrow gauge, which overlaps a lot with the 'trams' in HEQS. E.g. http://www.schoema.de/index.html I'll probably add some at some point.

Would be kinda neat to have modern industrial trams, since they can carry more cargo then a bunch of trucks can.

The CarGoTram is included in the Modern Tram Set.

Also, if you're playing a Russian game, you might also appreciate the Extended Russian Tram set, make sure you grab the Russian character set as well if you're using it so that the letters display correctly.

The CarGoTram is also in the German Road Vehicle Set, which is in 2cc. However, the capacity of that thing is atrocious - you're better off using two EGRVTS semi trailers.

Thanks for the update, I always appreciate the addition of more freight trams. NYCsubway.org has an excellent photo collection of former Brooklyn and Queens Transit work (and passenger) equipment starting here; you might want to have a look for further inspiration. :)

Image

This could be an earlier version of the Unimog rail car mover for electric interurban lines, essentially one step down in power and tractive effort from NARS2's GE Steeplecab.

Image

The new Port Jack Railmotor instantly reminded me of this vehicle.

Yeah, I'll consider that. I have a few other industrial engines in mind too.

The small tram is similar to what you posted :)

HEQS 1.4.0 released, available now from bananas or http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/heqs/releases/1.4.0/

Fix missing log loads for some tram wagons.
Fix to Winterthur railmotor - using wrong sprite for | direction.
Fix to colour of headlights for all vehicles.
Fix incorrect use of text IDs for trams, was causing errors to be reported in recent version of OTTD.
Fix lighting for Gmund Mog, all trams - was shaded with light from 2 o'clock, should be from approx 5 o'clock.

Thanks for the release. I like this set (and Fish).
I found a bug (thinks so): The new trams seen to have a loading bug. The first and last wagon didn't load correct.
And I must admit: I like fast big trams, but I think 450 goods are a lot for a tram.

Re: Heavy Equipment Set (HEQS) v1.4.1 released! [OTTD]

Post by andythenorth »

Version 1.4.1 is now on Bananas or at http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/heqs/releases/1.4.1/

Mostly a bug fix release.

*Changes in version 1.4.1*
Fix Dynamo tram being unable to load any cargo into first vehicle.
Fix unwanted extra refits in trams.
Remove code that showed correct capacity for trams in buy menu, but caused extra refits to appear.
Unified all cargo subtypes for trams ('short', 'medium', 'long') - helps auto-replace do a better job.

Autoreplacing changes length of freight trams.

EDIT:
I have started new game with identical newgrf settings and autoreplace works fine.

Can somebody try this exit sav? (nightly 23113)

Maybe the old game was using 1.4.0 and the new game uses 1.4.1?

Andy (sorry if this has been written somewhere, I must have missed it), why does the Dynamo carry only mail, goods and valuables? Wouldn't you make it available for other cargos too?

Most modern Cargo Trams arent like trains, Cargo Trams might be used for nulk Intra-City mail and goods transport, though some might be used to haul things like car parts or food
