Hey everybody, I just made an account, so any info is appreciated (also hoping this is the place to post it).

I've just now downloaded the lastest version, 1.8.0 I think. The thing I always wanted in my game is to have more buiding graphics, which I guess here are called NewGFR or something? But looking by myself I only found replacements. I don't want to change one buiding for another, but have MORE types of buildings. So the question is, anyone knows of new sets that add instead of replace, please?

Not interested in stations, transports or anything, just the buildings. Also there's the fact that I DON'T KNOW how or where to install those new grahics in case I get them. Thanks in advance!

Go in online content, and download Total Town Replacement Set or Swedish Houses. None replace the default houses, you need to put them in your GRF list, find the parameters and set that you don't want the houses to replace the default ones.

If you like rather small but modern cities with colorful houses, get Swedish Houses, it even includes ponds and playgrounds.
If you like cities with lots of skyscrapers, get Total Town Replacement Set, it also includes hospitals, prisons, parks, fountains etc.

I'm assuming that your computer is using Windows.
Open Windows Explorer (aka My Computer).
Expand the My Documents folder.
Now you should see the OpenTTD folder. Expand it.
Now you should see the content_download folder. Expand it.
Now you should see the newgrf folder. Expand it.
If you have not yet installed any newgrf files, it should be empty.

Next procedure:
Start OpenTTD. You should see a splash screen with a box in the center.
The title of that box should be OpenTTD 1.8.0
Within that box click on NewGRF Settings.
This will open the NewGRF Settings window.
There's a button at the bottom that says Check Online Content. Click on it.
This will open the Content downloading window.
In the Tag/name filter: text block enter Town.
That's a lot of files.
Let's narrow the scope.
Enter total.
Select Total Town Replacement Set.
Click on Download.
You should now see that file's name in the NewGRF Settings window, lower panel.
Click on ADD and the file name will move into the upper panel.
Highlight the file name and then click on Set parameters near the bottom.
The Change NewGRF parameters window will open. Make your selections and close the window.
Click on Apply changes.

That's it. You're done.

Now go back to the newgrf folder in Windows Explorer (aka My Computer).
You should see Total_Town_Replacement_Set-3.14.tar
Don't touch it. OpenTTD knows how to handle .tar files.

Enjoy the game. :D

Same with Swedish Houses. Remember you can have multiple house sets, in my games i use both Total Town Replacement Set and Swedish Houses.

Thanks a lot to the two of you, Wallyweb and acs121! :-) I hope I did it right.

Just in case, do you also know how can I work the "Openttd-custom-jgrpp-0.26.1-MINGW-win64" I downloaded? That wasn't in the window list since I got it from its page, not the game downloader...

Not the right discussion, but I'll help anyway.
It should be a .zip file you downloaded I believe, so extract the contents to a new folder where ever you wish.
Then just run the openttd.exe inside that folder to run the patch pack. :D
Please keep in mind that patch packs don't need to overwrite the base OpenTTD installation, as they come with the base game in their openttd.exe :P

FulliAutomatix, I didn't even notice that! O_O Thank you for explaining!

I just got the game running, and everything seems to work alright. Tons of thanks to all of you, people! :-)

zBase is a finished project. aBase was an attempt to create 32bpp graphics of a slightly different style, it was not finished and was abandoned. You'll want zBase.

32bpp Full Zoom was a project that attempted to implement both 32bpp graphics and full zoom (4x) graphics before OpenTTD officially supported it. When it did become supported, it was in a format different from 32FZ. The project was incomplete and abandoned in favor of using the supported specs in OpentTTD.

It looks Russian/Soviet to me (because of the little red flag on its tail).
My best guess is that its either a Tupolev TU-22M or Tupolev TU-160:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_Tu-22M
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_Tu-160

There is a Russian plane-set:
viewtopic.php?f=26&t=25516&hilit=russian+plane+set
But I dont think its in there…

I did click on Grigory's link to his thread on the Russian OpenTTD forums, there he uses the picture you posted, as an avatar:
http://forums.ttdrussia.net/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=435
But I cant read Russian, so no idea what is posted there ;-)

My best advise is to ask around on the Russian forum (if you speak Russian ;-) )
Although it looks to me like its something he has made for himself and didnt release, as most probably its an Soviet bomber and there are not a lot of military planes around in OpenTTD…
