To make sure things got sorted right : I don't intend to copycat Aternia's / LNM's invention in-game. My beep codes, are expressed in form of light blips; the writings are different (using vertical {-} and horizontal {|} bars), and would be used with Sanskrit script (i'll design it later). It's more of an "inspired by" thing; not that I fully copy it.

The Telephone begins to roll out across Aternia



Military/government establishments have seen the Telephone been linked up to other spots. A small telephone line is currently been connected in Alaska, with a more basic version in Africa. The capital city has been linked up, with many of its phonelines going towards docks and military outposts, as well as many going to city halls in other provinces. Chairman Azula today was photographed calling her Father from the Capital Palace to his home residence, she stated "The technology is amazing, and will sure revolutionize this nation".

Private industry has already began fussing over the phoneline technology, attempting to acquire it before there rivals.


So far the technology has only been available to the government/those wealthy enough to afford it, however with the technology rapidly growing, the manufacturing costs have begun to lower, making it more widely available. Chairman Azula hopes that in 10 years 1/3 households will have their own phoneline.

Invention :


Heinrich Hertz, an "European" immigrant has calculated that an electric current swinging very rapidly back and forth in a conducting wire can radiate electromagnetic waves into the surrounding space (today we would call such a wire an "antenna"). With such a wire he has created and detected such oscillations in his lab, using an electric spark, in which the current oscillates rapidly. (Aka early start of the radar/radio).


Naval increase:


Aternia has recently increased its naval size, in order to protect its "vulnerable foreign soil". Military officials stated the increase was to help in the transportation of troops to and from Alaska, as well as ensure that during a time of crisis, mass numbers of troops can be readily moved to Africa/Alaska. Chairman Azula will be showing her support for the troops this month, by visiting Alaska to meet the Aternia soldiers stationed their for defense/training purposes. She is expected to meet with General Tsau, who is in charge of the Alaskan military operation hosted in Anchorage. She will discussing several factors, such as the continued defense/expansion of Aternia Oil wells, as well as the research and development of military weapons in Alaska.

I'm not gonna to really veto it; just that it crossed my mind that theese things are rather rare, and as I don't know the exact ore distribution, additionally I think that things like ores and natural resources doesn't follow the real thing in this game, so of course you can claim that you have it. It's fine, really, just that it had crossed my mind.

Sometimes I dont think things through haha. Mainly I would state we got the ore from silver mines. I was going to claim that we found it in a naturally occurring fusion reactor in Africa, but it wasnt discovered until 1970. Anyway, its tech thats a long way off, but Ied like to start the ball rolling, hence why I said no results were found.

In Aternia:



Azula visits her weak father in his home. He lays in bed, his face paler than usual, he tells her to sit by the bed, and tells the guard to leave the room. He grabs her hand:



Khan: Azula, you lead this nation now, but I still have a course laid out for it


Azula: And I am following your course, Alaska has never been stronger. With more troops, and extended shipping, Alaska could be considered its own nation, if it had the civilian populace.


Khan: You have done well with Alaska, she is our secured jewel, but there is something else in the darkness.


Azula: And what is that?


Khan: The socialist movement grows in strength each day, taking back its land, and gaining allies.


Azula: But the socialists are considered to be politically linked in with our nation, their are great similarities-


Khan: In life, there is the Yin and the Yang, both must exists in equal balance. Though Aternia is the Yin, so too is socialism, and without Yang, there is chaos.


Azula: I don't understand.


Khan: We are a strong nation, but Socialism has its eyes on the globe, those that do not fall under its grasp are forced under its grasp. Only in a Democracy can Aternia live, The socialists would not end their war on Democracy, they would come for us as well, and if left long enough, would succeed. We must aid the political struggle in West, we must ensure that socialism is defeated, while it can be defeated. Send Word to the American Patriots, and to the Chicagoan's, let them know the wind has changed. And send A message to General Tsau, tell him the Dragon of the East must rise again.


Azula: As you will.


Khan: 1 more thing, ensure that the American socialists last delivery of weapons and explosives...is brightly demonstrated. (Blown up in port).


Globally:


Several messengers have been sent to Chicago and the Confederate run states, holding a cryptic message. Larger numbers of troops and ships have also been spotted heading towards Alaska. Rumors have been circulating that the song of war is been sung by men on board the ships.

While many people expected King Siu to serve the country until death, his longevity finally makes himself give up on waiting and decide to retire. Heir Apparent Prince "Yau" will inherit the throne; while his younger brother, Prince "Tai", will be the chief of the Privy Council, helping the future king to run the country.

A message has sent to Chairman Azula to invite her -- as well as the former Chairman Khan, should he be able to attend -- to the crown handover ceremony due to take place within three months. Invitations are also sent to Nusantara and the Governor of Chicagoan Myanmar.

Wuchang flourishes quite quickly as a result, though the people find it inconvenient that it doesn't manage to span the Yangtze on a bridge. Talks with Aternia is planned for construction of such a crossing.

Reports about Panda Hill People Moved to Specialized "Sacred Bamboo Preservation Zone"

The chieftain of Panda Hill has gone missing. The road construction team connecting the Aternian metropolis Chengdu has found some Panda Hill people on the way. After an agreement to establish a special preservation zone in the Samkok side of the border, many of them were relocated to the zone, which is immediately to the north of Dadu Pass.

More Natives Found on the Island of Yi

The people settled on the Island of Yi have moved due north, and cohabited with a special group of natives, who name themselves "Ketagalans". A settlement is established in a basin to the north of the island, and named after the native people.

Explorations are under way aiming to chart the entire mountainous island.

Both settlements are established by the people working on their way to Chicagoan Myanmar. While Kunming was historically more promonent, Yin-shan (Literally: Inkstone Mountain) is strategically more important to Samkok as it sits on the trade route to Chicagoan Myanmar.

A message from Aternia to Samkok has stated that Chairman Azula will attend the handover ceremony, but her father due to ill health cannot travel such a distance.




Talks are also underway in allowing Samkok to purchase/install the telephone technology from Aternia (Obviously purchasing the Materials etc from us, then forming their own phone company).

We agree to the construction of a crossing, provided it is military secured. We hope to make it a great bridge, naming it "the hope bridge", as a message of the strong bridge between the 2 nations diplomatically.

Sorry, I felt 4 days was long enough:




A messenger quickly runs into General Tsau's command office, holding a sheet a paper, "Urgent message from the Chairman General Tsau!" he shouts. The General takes the message off the soldier and begins to read it allowed to the officers in the room:



" General Tsau. The weather in Aternia has changed. There are calm oceans for sailing south. The Dragon of the East must fly South. Chairman Azula........"



The General pauses from a moment, decoding the message, "What does it mean General?" questions 1 of the officers:



General Tsau: "It means Aternia is going to war. The political stance in Aternia has changed to go against socialism, She wishes for us to take the port just south of here for Aternia, then I must bring out armies South to fight.....Rally up 50,000 now, tell them to capture the Port tomorrow, inform the rest of the men that we will be heading South for the summer."

Officer: "The rest of the men, but thats-"


Tsau: "800,000 men. This battle will be won, and it will be won for the Confederacy. Send word to Chicago, tell them the Dragon fights for their cause, we dont want this mass move of roops causing any unwarranted attacks."



Off topic: I feel this war has gone on slightly too long, without any actual "war" so I hope my involvement should boost it up. My aim is to take the port in Alaska for Aternia, then anything else is captured for America (Aka im not just gonna roll down taking all his land).

(Im gonna have to do some reporting, as some people havent posted in weeks, which makes waiting for a reply a bit...long)

Meanwhile, In Alaska:




The Battleships sail the same time as the men march, aiming to get there a few minutes before. 50k of men march across the hillside, its thawed mostly, making for an easier walk. General Tsau collects the rest of the men in Alaska, issuing tactics and orders. If they capture the port, they can use the train lines to move troops, so capturing them intact is of utmost importance.


Its a cold morning on the Gulf of Alaska, its just a small port, but its been running Aternian shipments of weapons down South for several months. The arrival of Aternian ships is not uncommon, due to the delivery of weapons from the nearby port, but this arrival seems different.



Upon the horizon, 40 Aternia battleships sail towards the docks, the sails drop and the ships hit full speed towards the docks. (Hope im ok reporting this, It only seems to be a minor dock/town) People/soldiers in the dock begin to panic slightly, "why so many ships?" they ask. Suddenly a young boy runs to the Captain of the Dockyard and hands him a Letter, it reads:



"This port has been claimed by the Aternian Empire."


As the captain looks, Aternian troops begin marching over the hill towards the Dock, weapons in arms. The number of men looks indescribable (As im assuming it was only a minor battalion of men in the Dock, there appear to be no military bases nearby), civilians from the town begin packing up there items, and running in panic. 1 of the ships heading to the dock turns hard to port, quickly followed by the rest of the ships, The Socialist Captain utters 1 last phrase:


"By the gods"



War!

The Aternian vessels release all cannons, aiming most of them towards the ships docked in the harbor, some aiming towards the guard towers and military buildings along the front. A young Aternian man runs from 1 of the boats docked in the port, he is unnoticed during the commotion. (I posted this tactic earlier this week) As the Young man runs from the boat, it suddenly explodes into pieces, sending shrapnel flying across the dockyard (Planted explosives in our last "delivery"), planks of wood fly into the other ships docked within the yard, as more cannon balls fly through the air.

A roar comes from the hillside, as the Cavalry charges towards the town and the soldiers begin running, a battle horn echos out across the countryside. The Aternians, have joined the war.

The Crown Prince Inherits the Throne as King Yau


King Siu finally can have some rest -- and you bet it, he's still up and healthy. But he does wanna enjoy whatever he remains.

This is the city of Canton, somewhere the Sun decides to shine straight on the inhabitants' head for a day.

And it's probably the first time that representatives of a quarter of the planet meet. A sign of peace, cooperation and prosperity, some may think.

Aternia captures the North!




In a move to increase territorial distance between Aternian and Socialist America, Aternia has captured the Socialist north, along with its port. Simply by overwhelming the enemy, Aternia forced a quick retreat, pushing the small number of troops stationed in the port south, capturing some. The sheer number of troops plus the unexpected attack was enough to force the enemy out, with barely a shot fired. Officials are using this newly gained port to bring in troops from Alaska, as well as hoping the connected rail lines will allow an easy move south.



The initial naval attack has cause superficial damage to the port, as well as hitting some of the socialist boats in the dock.

General Tsau has assured a bigger deployment of troops to reclaim land in the name of the Confederacy, hopefully pushing the socialists back towards Chicago and confederate troops. With the socialists been hit from 3 sides, General Tsau has stated that unless they gain support from another nation, the socialists movement should be "done with in the next 2 years".

All opposed to the socialist coalition voice their thanks to the Aternian Empire. A new hope has risen in the minds of the people regarding a war that was thought to have begun to stagnate.

In light of the recent news, President Fahnrich (IIRC) addresses the people directly.

"My fellow Chicagoans, I ask the following of you. Fear not the enemy or our possibility of failure. Fear is our enemy. Disregard the fear and there is only strength to be found. Let us band together and fight the tyranny of the socialist republic which bites at our feet. Let us show them that we are Chicago, and that we are not afraid!"
The chief's speech was met with thunderous applause.
