Re: The Nations Game
Well, it seems that the map we're playing on has definitely been confirmed. How about a new poll for the start date, and then we'll begin the game?
Re: The Nations Game
Wait I want to change the quickness of the years. I think 1 day to 3 years is to quick after 1900 because we end up with the silly years quicker. I recommend 1 day to a year after that time as we also get the technological advances in better.

Re: The Nations Game
So if we started in 1800 for example, it would take a little over a month (33 days) to get to 1900 at the 1 day = 3 years progression. From 1900 onwards, we would switch to a 1 day = 1 year progression, which would take about 3.5 months to get to 2000. Considering the previous game lasted four months, it seems like a good time rate. Also, the previous game was deteriorating because of the far future setting and the game will last longer if it doesn't get to such a year as quickly.
Another time scale could be thought up if we were to play "Ancient Civilisations" starting from 0 AD. 1 day = 20 years seems OK in this case, and if we get as far as 1800 (this takes about 3 months for 18 centuries) then we would switch to 1 day = 3 years for the Industrial Revolution, then 1 day = 1 year for the 20th century and beyond.
In all, it sounds good and I am willing to try it

Nice idea. 1day to a year.
That way I have a clue about what year we are in

Re: The Nations Game
Jake's time scale sounds great to me.
And before we start, please, let's not fight any more over a simple game. Specifically, with all do respect, APDAF, please try playing fair. I'm not suggesting how and what you should play, hell, as far as I'm concerned you can play a terrorist nation if you want, but please try being realistic in some situations, you can't break a wall with your head. This goes to all others too, let's have fun instead of bickering over petty things.

First of all it was my idea (except for ancient civilization) and also I agree with you that he should be fair.Voyager One wrote:Jake's time scale sounds great to me.

Re: The Nations Game
Okay, enough deciding and fooling around - we're starting!
The year is 1800 and we are playing on the map with rivers. The timerate is 1 day = 3 years until 1900, when it will be switched to 1 day = 1 year. I have added a key and some new (and old) icons. Icons with a red dot are not available yet, when the time comes, the red dot will be removed. (eg. Railways will become available in 1830, Electric Railways and Power Plants in 1880, Airports in 1910-ish, and so on.) I would be pedantic and make up rules such as "you must have a power plant in order to have electric railways" but I fear that would be overcomplicating it. So if you say you're exporting coal, you don't HAVE to have a mine connected to a seaport with a shipping route, but feel free to add whatever you like to your territory, and even make new icons if the need arises. On the other hand, you don't have to add anything to your country, but it will be generally regarded (by me anyway) as an undeveloped wilderness with little or no economy
Also, there is plenty of room in the corners to add more things, such as more country slots, icons, spacecraft etc. Just because we have started doesn't mean nothing can change, if you feel like something needs changing, speak up. (unless it's something major like the actual map we are using)
Map stuff aside, let's have fun!
The Lau Empire has risen out of the ruins of a prevous Chinese empire. A new dynasty has begun, with a civilisation that is industrious. Many cities are built on the banks of the mighty Yangtze, which is the empire's main transport route. Coastal seaports are ready to trade spices and stuff. The Emperor has commissioned a fleet of Explorers to cross the great ocean in order to look for other, far away, civilisations.

Re: The Nations Game
Geoduckia settles the Philippines and Borneo, with the capital city where Manila would be in real life.
Could someone please add me to the map? I'd also like a few secondary cities, plus some roads and shipping lines where it seems necessary. I'm on my Mac and don't have an editor program.

Re: The Nations Game
Map Unlocked
- Added nations of Geoduckia and the Corsh Empire
- Added more/better shipping routes
@L.A. Noire Fan: The size of the green/yellow area representing a city is supposed to indicate its population. How did you get your cities all with a very similar, large population?
@Jacko: I added the Corsh Empire, with similar borders as you drew on the other map. I also added a few cities and shipping routes for you
@Geoduck: I added Geoduckia as you said. Would you like to open a trade route with us? We have exotic medicines and spices.

The United Kingdom of England-Land is founded.
The Capital City is London.
We are willing to trade with other countries as we have a load of Factories around the City of Manchester.
