The airline game

Hello. I used to be Planefun on here. Remember me? The guy who constantly posted irritating request on Matt's British Railways re-enactment. Enough reintroduction, on to the game.

The year is 1919. The Great War is over. Old aeroplanes are being converted to carry passengers. A new type of company is being started, the airline. Economists predict that the airline industry could be dangerous, but unimaginably profitable. Are you up to the challenge?

Rules
One major airline per person, any smaller airlines owned by your main company must be run by me for approval
I will provide cheap, real-world planes. Make a post if you want to make a company of your own, and I will make a decision
If you make your own company, no jets until 1952, no supersonics until '76
One day in real life equals one year in game. I may change this if I feel it is necessary.
Maximum four new routes per post. I may change this as well.
I may add more rules later.

The Farman Goliath is the only plane on offer right now
Stats
Capacity: 12-14 passengers
Max speed: 87 mph
Range: 250 miles

BREAKING NEWS!
A battle will inevitably brew in the southwest of England as Global Air Lines sets up a London-Exeter-Cork route to rival Southwestern Air Service and fly places in Ireland that SAS doesn't serve. The company has also opened a new route from London to Carlisle, maxing out the Farman Goliath's range. Yes, I can't hold it back any longer, GAL has bought four new Farman Goliaths, two for the new routes and two for beefing up the flights to Liverpool and Manchester,

On an unrelated note, don't forget the 250-mile max flight length until someone comes up with a better plane than the Farman. You can stretch it by a few miles (I did with my London to Carlisle flight), but not by much. Check your routes at http://www.gcmap.com, which is also a great way to make route maps .Also, vote on who wants the pace to be quickened to one real day per game year.

Are those real places? If not, you need to restart.

Yes, you can create new planes if you found your own company. READ THE RULES.

Ok now I understand, sorry... thought "make company of your own" referred to airlines

And concerning the game pace... I think one day per year is better as long as there are not many planes available...
If more than one new plane per year might be released, this might need some rethinking however...
Just my opinion on the matter.

Mancunian Airways is founded in, you guessed it, Manchester.
They aquire 9 Farman Goliaths for there Routes.
All routes have one Farman Goliath on them, except the routes with stopovers, which have two. We also have on spare, based at Manchester.

The airline business in Germany is booming.
Many more cities require airline attachement to the rest of the world.

Therefore Flughansa buys 2 new goliaths to open a new circular route :

Hamburg - Frankfurt - Munich - Dresden Hamburg

One plane will operate the route clockwise and the other counterclockwise.

Departure from Hamburg via Frankfurt on Tuesdays at 1pm local
Departure from Hamburg via Dresden on Thursdays at 1pm local
Both flights stop for the night in Munich and will resume on the next day

On another note, Flughansa wishes to cooperate with airlines operating from Paris and Amsterdam to offer extended services beyond our own operational area - offers welcome !

EDIT : I'd like to open an aircraft manufacturing company - the "Junkers Flugzeugwerk AG"

We are willing to co-operate on Flights from Manchester and London City to Paris.
We are glad to hear that !

We would like to propose the following terms :

for each passenger continuing from Paris to England on Mancunian Airways that travelled Flughansa before, 30% of the fare goes to us. Equally, 30% of the fare of each passenger continuing from Paris to Germany on our flights go to you.

Do you agree to these terms or would you like to propose an alternative ?

Flughansa proudly anounces the extension of its services towards England in cooperation with Mancunian Airways !

Thanks to this cooperation, travelling time between the major european cities will be greatly reduced as soon as the timetables of the 2 companies have been adapted to each other.

NEW RULE
One real day equals one game year. It is now 1920
NEW MANUFACTURER
Junkers has just been founded in Germany.

Global Air Lines has decided to get in to the lucrative Mainland European market by buying two more Farman Goliath aircraft and using them on new routes to Dusseldorf via Norwich and to Frankfurt via Brussels. Economists are speculating on when GAL is going to open the lucrative London-Paris route. The CEO of the company says that he will wait and see if upstart aircraft company Junkers can produce a better plane than the Farman aircraft that GAL is currently using.

NEW AIRCRAFT AVAILABLE :

Junkers Flugzeugwerk AG proudly presents the
Junkers F 13

Image

While the carying capacit remains way lower than that of the Goliath, the F 13 offers its operators a wel extended range !

It is also the world's first fully metal-built airliner.

Technical data :
Crew : 2
Pax : 4
Operating speed : 140 km/h (86 mph)
Max speed : 170 km/h (105 mph)
Range : 1200 km (~ 800 miles)

---------------------------------------

Flughansa announces the opening of a new route that will probably change the world :

A direct flight from Hamburg, Germany to New York, USA !
For this to be possible, 2 brand new Junkers F 13 with their max range have been bought.
The flight goes via Glasgow, Reykjavik, Nuuk (refuel only), Goose Bay (refuel only) and Montreal.
To grant better security on this dangerous trip, both planes always operate simultaneously and always stay in visual range of each other.
