Re: Guess the British station
Well, a further clue. This is an open station with a dedicated bus interchange.

i suspect this is meant to make it super easy, but all the bus interchanges i know of look nothign like that, unless its a rarely used entrance61653 wrote:Well, a further clue. This is an open station with a dedicated bus interchange.

Re: Guess the British station
The bus interchange isn't in the photo, of course! The entrance shown is one of two at this station, the other is step-free. Not sure which is used most tbh.Redirect Left wrote:i suspect this is meant to make it super easy, but all the bus interchanges i know of look nothign like that, unless its a rarely used entrance61653 wrote:Well, a further clue. Re: Guess the British station
Another clue, this station has just one platform...

Re: Guess the British station
Hmmm... Island platform with 2 tracks or normal platform with 1 track ?

Re: Guess the British station
An island platform with two tracks would be two platforms. For avoidance of doubt, the station has one platform face.acs121 wrote:Hmmm... Island platform with 2 tracks or normal platform with 1 track ?

Re: Guess the British station
So... Is this line entirely single-track ?
Re: Guess the British station
Still no real idea but assuming somewhere on the north...Penistone?
Re: Guess the British station
That'd be way too easy, considering he mentions the Penistone line in his signature. Although it can't be Penistone as it's got 2 tracks and 2 platforms.
Although I admit it could be a station on the Penistone Line, as it has single-track stations too. But with dedicated bus interchange, I don't think so...

Re: Guess the British station
Either Silkstone Common or Denby Dale then. It's the only ones I know which have 1 platform on this line...

You can't make two guesses at once, pick a lane!

Re: Guess the British station
All the stations on that line are single, except Barnsley and all after towards Sheffield, Huddersfield & Stocksmoor / Shepley which is crossover #1, and Penistone which is the next crossover between single track portions before Barnsley (or after if you're travelling towards Huddersfield)acs121 wrote:Either Silkstone Common or Denby Dale then. This means the following are single, Lockwood, Berry Brow, Honley, Brockholes, Denby Dale, Silkstone Common & Dodworth.
Re: Guess the British station
Well, those are the only ones except Penistone and Barnsley I can name on this line.
I'd rather go for Silkstone Common. IIRC there's a tunnel like this one over there.

No idea so I'll say Denby Dale!

Re: Guess the British station
Is the correct answer. The subway was formerly used to get between the two platforms before the line was singled. It's now used as pedestrian access from the main road: under the first arch of the viaduct and up a footpath through the trees and you find yourself where I took the photo from.Kevo00 wrote:No idea so I'll say Denby Dale!
The "Interchange" is a glorified bus turning circle, but it is still known officially as Denby Dale Interchange and displayed as the destination on buses.

Re: Guess the British station
Interesting - but at least you can easily change from train to bus there!
