However, Palace Gates wasn't named Wood Green.
Wood Green and Palace Gates were the two stations. The old Alexandra Palace was up on the hill
Only years later, was Wood Green renamed to Alexandra Palace.
Bit of trivia for you too. The line coming out of the station, connecting to the Hertford Line, is still there and used. It's now sidings for Bounds Green depot
That was a tough one, even without my misinterpretation of the rules! (apologies again for that...)
The next is an open station, though the part in the photo is no longer in use. No further clues yet, doubt more will be needed anyway...

Last train journey I could be bothered to look up the headcode for: 04/02/2016, Mirfield to Batley, 2J34 1459 Huddersfield to Leeds, Northern Rail 144015

Sorry! As a bit of a clue, the name of the station is (embarrassed edit! ) 11 letters long but has only 2 vowels. It currently has 2 platforms and always has had, the part in the photo is not accessible to the public.

There's plenty still on the ground. You can trace the line for almost all of its length on maps (not in Wood Green...!) and there's a set of bridge abutments on Park Avenue (see attached). There's also a bridge over nothing on Belmont Road, and a bridge parapet on Philip Lane which has now been filled in so its just a wall. A couple of new developments have popped up on the old line, one called Ivatt Way and the other called Gresley Close... Fitting really.
The line diverged at Seven Sisters, with dedicated branch platforms. Aside from a conspicuous stub of embankment, nothing of that remains, and the Sisters are now just a through station.
The station has 2tph in each direction mon-Sat daytimes. In one direction one of the services calls at all stations to its destination, the other calls at most. In the other direction, the slightly faster service calls at all stations via one route, the other calls at all except one (except at peak times) via a different route. Destination is the same at both ends for both services.
There's a decent pub just a couple of minutes away from this station.

Hm. My first thought, because it looked familiar, was that it'd be in West Yorkshire or possibly towards Greater Manchester. However I can't come up with any names that match the previous criteria of 11 characters, 2 vowels and 2 platforms, and it isn't on the Ale Trail around Pennines, despite the pub clue (useless to me as i don't drink) as none of them meet the aforementioned criteria, assuming you're using the same stations on the trail as the leaflets i hand out are.
Totally stumped on this one.

1M86 was the Southbound Thames-Clyde Express, which gives quite a wide area of possibilities for the mystery station... but based on the architecture and the nameboard on that signal box (which is unreadable if I zoom in) I'm going to guess at the former Apperley Bridge and Rawdon station, now reopened at a slightly different location as plain old Apperley Bridge.
Open floor in the unlikely event of that being correct.

Was a lucky guess! I said open floor at the time, but as nobody's grabbed it and I now have a photo I'll post it...
Shouldn't be the most difficult ever!

Do we need a clue? I'll try to think of one that helps without making it obvious...
A cryptic clue: Othello is depressed.

A long way off... the station was (and will be- there's another clue!) closer to my location than yours.
