[OTTD-JGRPP] Europe 8192 scenario (1000+ city)

Post by tiram2sue »

Hi, I (and my friends) made Europe scenario, with 8192*2 scale.

from heightmap creation to placing huge amount of cities, It was very very...hard work.

This map contains entire Europe, with part of russia, turkey, north africa.

and it contains 1000+(maybe..) citys, and each of them has 1000~10000 population based on city renown, real population.
as korean, i love entire europe, and tried to make proper balance of countries, to play with friends more competitively,
so smaller countries has little buff on their cities.

AND WORKED ON JGRPP 0.39.1, so may not compatible for native version (maybe it could work).

and contains some newgrfs to enjoy game with my friends, so you can add/remove newgrf in scenario editor.

Every city named as english based on google map, and has country tag.

one picture is better than 100 sentences, right?

The game cant take entire map in one screen, even if it is jgrpp.

so there is 4 screenshots.

The map looks really cool, though I do have one question...

...why is the Netherlands so high up? Most of the parts that are supposedly below sea levels are much higher up than they should be.

That's right.
In fact, sea levels are slightly lowered (has more lands). and not very accurate.
Not intended, it happened as I manually created heightmap using photoshop.
and my dimming graphic skill makes sea level and river, lakes smaller.
and It was quite a hard job to get sea area from coastlines and dimmed grayscaled map, so complexed costlines are simplified ;ㅅ;

Parts of some cities, such as Gibraltar, will disappear underwater after the game begins because they are at sea level

Absolutely incredible work. Congrats!

If I wanted to play this with FIRS, is there any way to have the industries spawn in the map?

I have the latest version 1.11.2 of the game but still can't load it? Any idea what is the problem?

I'm getting an error "Savegame is made with newer version"

https://prnt.sc/13lgaf7

I have the game installed on my laptop with installation downloaded from the website, not through Steam, could that be an issue?

No, this scenario uses map size introduced in JGR's patch pack. Savegames and scenarios saved with almost any of patches and patch packs are incompatible with regular OpenTTD.
In summary, if you see content with JGRPP or JGRpp, it is incompatible with base game.

Europe 8192 modified by Kamnet

Post by kamnet »

A player on Discord asked for this scenario to be modified, replacing 2CC Trains with Timberwolf's content. I have done so here.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1di3He_ ... sp=sharing

Created with JGR's Patch Pack version 0.43.0. If something starts going weird with the scenario, there's no support for it. Most likely me changing NewGRFs caused something to break (which is why you shouldn't be doing this ;) ). Players are thus duly warned.
