Hello! I am new on this forum and I want to share some scenarios I have built from STRM NASA photos. Towns are numerous and nearly accurate. Industries are more fancyfull...
Scanarios which I like are high scale and realistic. There are no competitors (but you can add some...) and my pleasure is to build pretty railway lines in montainous countries. These lines are expensive, so find first "juicy" industry (there are many), preferently in plains. Second difficulty is to destruct buildings to build big stations, you must not be hurried and think to plant trees. Atherwise, think to Alt Ctrl C.
And enjoy.

First one: Alps (France, Italian Piemont and West Switzerland), 2048x2048
Many montains of course, but easy plains too. Building long tunnels will need many money...
Scotland: (2048x2048), very mountainous, and many coasts... And a sublime country.

And now, two very beautiful islands:
1: Corsica (1024x2048): lot of mountains, but a plain at east
2: La Reunion (2048x2048): Indian ocean, a fantastic volcano. But only mountains, so difficult...

3 scenarios in north of Massif Central:
Saint-Etienne Lyon (2048x2048): 2 metropolis with some traffic (Saint-Etienne is my country, Gaga is the Nickname of its inhabitants...)
Correze (2048x2048): a little country with uplands and deep gorges.
NW of Massif central: big scenario with everything (mountains, plains, metropolis etc...)

Scenarios around mediterranee:
"PACA" (Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur) 2048x2048
Languedoc: 2048x2048
East Pyrenees: from Toulouse to Barcelona...

And the last one: a little country called "Velay". Little towns, mountains and long long gorges. Maybe my prefered.

I just discovered your scenarii and really like them, especially the fact that one can easily mirror real-life curvy TER lines in deep valleys.

1: Piemont + lombardia, N of Italy, large plain surrounded by alps, + mediterranean coast. 4k x 4k 2: little mountains in NE of France. 2k x 1k 3: long mountain range between Switzerland and France

Some again...
1: W Pyrenees, between France and Spain, 2: West Norway (country of fjords), 2k x 2k, 3: South Italy (from Napoli to W Sicilia), 4k x 4k:

And again...

1: Archipelago of the Massif Central, the sea has risen by 1000 m due to climate change..., 4k x 4k, 2: Hong Kong, huge cities, plains and mountains... (2k x 2k):

2 other scenarios:

- Rhone-Alpes country: huge (ideal for lockdown ) -Switzerland, 4kx4k:

Man I am from Saint-Etienne and I just found your job while casually looking for Open TTD maps, not even hoping to see my area mapped with so much precision and talent.

In terms of scale I tend to prefer the first Sainté - Lyon map you made, Mont-Blanc or the 2020 Rhone-Alpes map, I'll try them to see where I prefer to play.
