Scandinavia scenario

Post by bodemly »

Hey guys!

I had some time after christmas and made a scandinavian scenario.
I found a heightmap here and made a scenario on it.
Hope you like it. All is where it has to be ;)
Some NewGrfs are included :D

It looks very nice. Thank you for the work done :))
Happy new year, bodemly :))
And for what version of the game made the scenario? Please post a list of all used graphics :) .
I checked the scenario. The Norwegian train set does not work on openTTD.

I first tried on Spring2013 OpenTTD Patchpack v2.2.192 Full win32. It was a mistake with the work of the Norwegian train set. Now I tried with openttd-1.5.2-windows-win64. The scenario is started without any errors. Everything is fine :D

Thank you for posting the vanillia version, curious as to why you designed it as a temperate map? it would look great with snow

Okay no problem ;) Enjoy it. Hopefully we can see some screenshots in future ;)

Well, that´s a good question. Maybe because i play actual just temperate, but if I have time I will do a scenario with snow too ;)

Great job ! Finally decent sized and good quality Scandinavia scenario. Started playthrough from 1900 already with Finnish and Swedish trains (Modified GRF list a bit by myself on scenario editor.) and might post some screenshots later on.

Some minor typos:
Eskielstuna --> Eskilstuna
Störmsund --> Strömsund

Also, north of Stockholm I would suggest you remove Täby and find where the city of Norrtälje belongs instead. Täby is a suburb to Stockholm and not a very significant one.

Other than that, looking very neat. Will definitely give this a shoot.

If you're trying to keep the city names in their local language, Danish for Copenhagen is København. Swedish is Köpenhamn but that's not very relevant :P

I will fix this now and make a new download file. Thanks!

Yeah I think I will change it! :) thanks for your Feedback!

I considered about that but I made the decision to name all town in English, because there are many Towns especially in Finland where almost all towns have also a Swedish Name because Swedish is a offical language in Finland ;)

Well Swedish is official, but it's also secondary. Turku is prefered over Åbo, Helsinki is preferred over Helsingfors :)

Yes you are right but then there is Mariehamn which is the capital of Åland. It has a Swedish name although it belongs to Finland. But i think its nit really important whether the names are in English or in the offical language. ;)

We usually call it Maarianhamina, again the Finnish name preferred over the Swedish one. Of course the people living there call it Mariehamn as they mainly speak Swedish.

For Mariehamn, you would definitely keep the Swedish name. Åland Islands are almost exclusively Swedish speaking and the town is referred to as Mariehamn internationally as well.
