From a pure realism point of view - I would be careful at having rail routes through every single town and village.

I usually do this in my fictional games but then, when I come to recreating a real life landscape, I realise how many towns do not have any rail connections at all! Granted it is a bit boring in OTTD but having some towns with just road connections makes you appreciate those with train stations more!

Yeah there are quite a few small villages without links. The west and north west will be fairly densely populated so I anticipate adding a couple of medium size towns without rail links.

Of course at the time this map starts (1860), most of the country bar smaller villages were rail connected. It's hard to replicate an exact similarity in ottd but pretty pleased where I am thus far.

As you might have seen, I only found out very recently that signs laid in the scenario editor can't be removed, so this meant I had to go round and remove all signs that indicated where stations were to lie. I also removed all signs reminding me of where to put industries. Finally, I removed names referring to each railway such as junctions and bridge names - I figured these were better belonging to the individual company.

I've had to find a new placeholder though - so it appears ISR Pipelines used as an object is the only way!

Below is a screenshot of a larger town in the central area. You can see the pipelines where stations will go. There's also the end of crane rails for bridges.

It's quite messy in this state but it's finally starting to come together, that's for sure.

I do like feeling ignored ;) Triple post

As an example to swissfan91 of unconnected villages. I have tried to put a road to each, but avoid a grid style of roads in all directions.

Looks like some good opportunities to use Bob's British Buses there (hello Dave).

And so it continues... This is the completed area of Devnentshire and Westhorpe.

As before, the cyan colour represents the spread of the Firbourne and Western Railway. The lime is the Westhorpe and Devnentshire Railway.

And here's a bit of geography. It's not perfect (I'm no expert) - but I have tried to be as near accurate as reasonable. So there's fens, drains and farmland near the sea in Westhorpe. The farms are some of the first industries I've placed.

Come to a bit of a block with the map design (this has happened before haha).

So I thought I'd test the Firbourne area - I did discover a few problems so it was good that I tried it out.

Here's a screen - 2405 and 2402 cross at Hanbury South. 2405 is bound for Firbourne Bishopton via Bayside and Dollis Brook, whilst 2402 is a Hanbury Loop service which starts at Firbourne Charleston and circles through Hanbury and Clarefield to terminate back in town.

Not bad eh?

Looking good Dave. The black line in the north-east corner going to be entirely regional/commuter by any chance?

Yes, that area of the map is based on Scotland, so there'll be plenty of remote lines. Hopefully.

Block continues... So I've finalised the orders patterns I'm going to have for the Firbourne Met Railway...

And I've obviously put it out in a nice pdf courtesy of Visio.

Nearly TWO years!!! My life is flying by...

But I've not forgotten about Albion, and tonight I added another big feature... The massive Knight's Forest.

The forest makes up a fairly large part of Mercia, running along the county's southern border with Devnentshire.

The larger towns of Westwood and Hanton border the forest to the west and east, but there are a few small villages scattered through the trees, at Dark Bridge, Branham Ash, Knighthill and Stoney Corner, generally near to the large logging camps.

Pretty little space.

I hope at some point you will manage to getting around to doing Caldersex. I'd love to know what Dave's take on Yorkshire/Lancashire from days of yonder would be, as well as a naming convention he'll have to come up with for it :p

I've just found this thread in your signature and read through, but low and behold, it seem you've not quite gotten as far as Caldersex, or quite a few other places. Perhaps in another 3 years you may!

It's been some time now that this Temperate Cindini is gone. I know Dave is still active, but will he ever release the scenario ?

Do it, now ! I already said it, but this map is the Cindini of the Temperate climate. Now is to find the Cindini of the Arctic climate...
