In collaboration with hYpe_, we have made a scenario covering Southern Germany, Eastern France, Switzerland, Western Austria and Northern Italy. The scenario will be released in two parallel versions. v1.1 of the scenario uses the techniques employed from here. As far as I have tested, this method works.

Relief : Mountainous
Towns : Hundreds of thousands

Many mountain passes, labelled with heights.

What do you mean ? Is it not a big grey download button at the bottom ? I use that site because the scenario is too big to upload to the forum. It is available on BaNaNaS if you want to download it from there. Test file is a version of SAC's Stolen Trees, which includes snow versions of the trees.

Hi Guys,

first of all, great work, the scenario looks really great and seems to be pretty cool.
Currently, I'm mostly struggeling with getting the DB Set XL (0.82) to work with it, I might load it, but always get the red indicator saying "disabled" after updating the NewGRF Settings.

Any Ideas about that?

Cheers

Scylla

It won't work in the arctic climate. The only way we get it to work is if you use the AlpineClimate.grf.

It is type of archive (like rar, zip). You need to uncopress it. (Or maybe Openttd is able to uncompress it)

I am thinking of finally starting a game on this scenario. I came up with the idea of using ~10 "blank" companies to simulate the various transport operating companies of Switzerland, and using the cheat function to switch between them. This would allow different company colours, amongst other things. Can anyone think of any ways doing a scenario like this might go wrong ? Thought I'd ask now before problems arise and people say "well I could have told you that" :P

Hitting by mistake another cheat button (switch climate for example)

Are you going to use the Infrastructrue Sharing patch?
That patch would make your game more realistic, so you can have trains running between the networks.
I have been thinking of doing a game like that on my own, but I do not have a build with the IS patch.
If you can find a build (or make your own) with IS and CargoDist, it could be a fun game to play (and to see screenshots from :) )

Good luck! :P

I had thought about using the IS patch, but it seemed hassle. I thought I could probably get away with just having a company for BLS, FO, BVZ, SBB, DB etc without too many cases of trains needing to share track.

wait, if you do switch between companies don't they still develop freely?
